I'll even give the guy credit for knowing where all the hot chicks work and hang-out. He may be a bit crazy, but he isn't stupid.

Because what he does in the offseason really matters

Sather is still hung up on last year's arbitration decision, he's going to either low ball Avery and let him walk,or announce the resigning on 01 July along with all of his other moves.

My gut feeling is Sather lets him walk and he signs in the conference just to annoy us.That and he'll probably end up scoring 40 goals next year and make Sather look like a dolt...

What's the problem with this story exactly? Nothing.

Why do so many Rangers fans like to chase players away when they're doing a good job?
Re-Sign Avery!

Good for Avery, nice to see him boarden his horzions, more importantly nice to see that he is making a full recovery.

Sather needs to get this deal done.

So cos he didn't have a good series against the Pens he isn't doing good?
I didn't like him before he joined, it took me a while to take to him at all even here but the guy has played well in New York, and I think he adds a lot to the team, not just pest value either.

Depending on what they negotiate he will be signed because of his record with us. Like him or hate him he was an attribute tot eh team and has developed well while he has been a Ranger.

I must say that I am totally with Avery on this one.
Hetero stud will have a field day amongst the sexually frustrated Cougars at Vogue. good on him not taking himself too seriously. the ladies might enjoy a little physical agitation, intimidation and body checking.
chicks dig hockey players!

certainly working for Vogue w/ P.E.R.K.S beats the hell out of dispensing one cliche after another like Brett Hull and Melrose.

The record with him in and out of the line up speaks for itself.

You don't think some of those comments weren't typical Sather gamesmanship? The guy could give Machievelli lessons...

He's also one of the few guys on this club who plays with some stones. How many threads are there bemoaning the lack of a power forward in the line up?

The guy plays hard, stands up for his teammates and is the kind of gritty player the club has lacked for a long time.

With some of the smurfy forwards we have don't you think it's a good idea to have at least one guy riding shotgun for his linemates? At least make opposition think twice before running Jagr,Gomez,Dawes or the other smaller guys?

Ehhh, what do I know, I'm still wearing a Tikkanen jersey...

To me having an Avery on the team is bad because it puts everyone including the refs against you. You won't get the benefit of the doubt having a guy like that one your team.

Also, the Avery sideshow kind of sickens me. The guy is so self absorbed that he's always in the papers for no reason, or makes an a-hole quote because he knows everyone will chime on about and he loves it. I'm sick of hearing about who he's feuding with now and blah blah blah, this isn't the WWF.

I do think he's a good hockey player, although it seems as if he disappears when he's not getting on someone's nerves. He seems to only score when the other team is focusing on him, he's never that guy who will step it up when no one is paying attention, that's what annoys me. He has shown it now two years straight in the 2nd round, where he just disappears when the other team stops paying attention. Throughout the season too, he cleans up his act for a few weeks and he disappears off the scoreboard, then when he starts acting like an ass on the ice again he starts scoring.

i feel you, but he's small, has a similar skill set to a guy like callahn and he's asking for around 4 mil. Wouldn't you rather have a guy who's 6'3 220, who can put up avery style numbers?

Right, he is like a Callahan in terms of his skill set, except Callahan plays on the third line and Avery plays on the 1st or 2nd. That's why I don't want him. I don't want to pay a 3rd liner $4 million to play on a 1st or 2nd line that he doesn't belong on.

My max for him is $3 million and that's even pushing it for a player who has never scored more than 15 goals in a season. To me he's worth about 2.2.

He's not an exceptional PKer, isn't a PP specialist, isn't a goal scorer or a playmaker, he's an agitator who can put up 15, possibly 20 goals in a great season playing top two line minutes. That is in no way worth $4 million.
