Question about Ruutu...

I've been having a debate with a fellow hockey geek the past few weeks on another web site and I'm of the belief that Ruutu's rise to the prominence and his pretty close to point per game pace the past few months is not a coincedence at all and that 70-80 point...100 PIM types of years will be the norm for Ruutu as his career progresses. I'm of the belief that if there is a season next year or even if there isn't, Ruutu will have a natural progression towards the 60-65 point neighborhood and than move it up a notch to the 70+ point area as the Hawks add better players to play alongside of him though I must admit Arnason and Daze on the same line as Ruutu aint too shabby.

The guy I'm having the debate with says Ruutu is nothing more than a 50 point guy and that I'm basically nuts to think Ruutu has 70-80 point per year potential. I dunno fellas, but I've been watching Ruutu quite a bit on the dish and I have been supremely impressed with how he's grown up as a player now that his knee injury is a thing of the past and due to the added responsibilities on his shoulders now that Zhamnov and Sullivan are gonzo.

Anyways, I think this other dude is crazy if he doesn't see how Ruutu doesn't have have elite scoring skills and will be a consistant 70-80 point type of guy in the very near future beginning a couple of years from now so long as he stays healthy of course.

Help settle this debate and who's more likely to end up being correct in his evaluation of Ruutu in your opinions Black Hawk faithfull.....me or this other guy...eh? Thanks in advance

-Maxie

hel hit 70 pts per season, 80 is stretching it, but possible, 70 is the safer bet
hes gonna get 40 this year, to say hel max out at 50 is naive

50 points is shameful. He must be a red wings fan.

Ruutu will be a 70+ point player. Look at the numbers he's putting up when healthy.

Ruutu is a full-fledged STUD. Point a game & 100 PIMs. Amazing how much better he got with a regular shift & talented line mates. Ask Sakic how much he thought of Ruutu undressing him. Thru the fog of yet another awful season, watching Ruutu made the last half of the season watchable. This guy is the real deal.

GaryU is right on the money. He is the real deal. As a leafs fan, I would give up ANYTHING to get him. At our leafs site, we worship him when his name comes up. He is a stud.

He'll put up over a point per game if Chicago can ever get and hold on to some decent players.

When he was drafted wasn't he supposed to be a checker more than a scorer?

But, I agree, he has the potential to score 70+ points, even in today's NHL. He is just... AMAZING. You guys are damn lucky to have him.
