My max for him is $3 million and that's even pushing it for a player who has never scored more than 15 goals in a season. To me he's worth about 2.2.

He's not an exceptional PKer, isn't a PP specialist, isn't a goal scorer or a playmaker, he's an agitator who can put up 15, possibly 20 goals in a great season. That is in no way worth $4 million.

excellent post. also, this guy has a knack for taking untimely penalties, and is a me first personality. he's worn out his welcome everywhere he's played.

Hot,I'd love that type of guy in the line up, but the $64K question is who is he,where do we get him from and what will it cost to put him in our sweater?

The prototype power forward is a scarce commodity at the moment.

My personal feeling is that Sather will lowball him, he'll test the market and follow the money. For all his talk of loving the city and everything else that appeals to him about playing in New York, this is above all else a business.

Who knows, maybe he'll put his money where his mouth is and take less to stay.Time, as always, will tell.

he is faster than your average 6.3 220 pounder! speed kills

Hey Hotrock, name me one other Ranger who went to the front of the net more than Sean Avery. He was the ONLY Ranger aside from Dubinsky who I would ever see planted in front of hte other teams goalie taking a beating in the crease.

So I ask you, if Avery leaves who has the balls to go in front of the net like him? Jessiman? Avery MUST be resigned.

Yeah thanks for putting the two guys I named that do it in your list of 5 whole guys on the team. Good job there! And there are no promises Shanny or Cally return next season in NYR uni's.

You are also wrong on Shanahan, he SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO does not stand in front of the net, esp the PP which is what I was really refering to. Shanny played in the hi slot or point for his big slapshot. Watch a game bro.

Drury does it but not as much as Avery does. I did forget about him but even with him thats 3 guys on the team who do it and one is a rookie.

Callahan there is no guarentee he is on the team next season and he didn't stand in front of the net a lot. Also he doesn't get PP time which is hwne u use guys who plant in the crease.

As long as a player stays in shape and stays out of trouble with the law, I couldn't care less what he does in the offseason.

Avery obviously has some interests that aren't common in hockey players, id est fashion, but all this crap he says in the paper, and to the media, and some of the stuff he does, like painting his nails, how much of that is to get a rise out of the league? He does his job on the ice, and does it well, I don't really care if he has some hobbies that are adverse when compared to the norm in the hockey world.

Why is this a thread? I don't care what he does off the ice.

Resign him.
