Panthers Deny Toronto Request To Speak To Nieuwy

Even though Joe resigned his position with the Panthers, Florida still hold his contractual rights until July 1st.

Good, it's not like Nieuwy can help out with that sorry team anyways. They ripped us off in the Kilger deal, that was shady as hell. I'm glad their request was blocked. I only wish we could do more.

Niewy recommends Panthers to acquire Kilger. Deal is done: Leafs get a draft pick and the Panthers get 0 games of Kilger's services for the 2007-2008 season. Then Niewy resigns and now he's joining the Leafs front office.

Yeah, they were incredibly impressed with his ability to help the Leafs, even when he's not with that team.

Maybe he can recommend Kilger to the leafs again for our 3rd round pick back.

I dont think anyone knew Kilger was going to have quite the difficulty hes had with his family or he wouldn't have been traded.

None the less, it does seem like sour grapes to hold off on permission with Joe, so maybe the Panthers brass feels the Leafs knew more than they did.

Either way, don't hold it against Wade, we still love Wade in TO

Perhaps the best solution to the problem is to offer them permission to talk to Joe in exchange for our third rounder back - and we keep Kilger's rights.

No, the best solution to the problem is they can talk to Joe if they give back our third rounder AND TAKE Kilger and his salary back.

His salary doesn't hit our cap as long as he's not playing, and we don't know if maybe he'd pan out - may as well keep his rights. No point in throwing the baby out with the bath water.
