Man, I hope Petr can do some of that next season (hopefully not with another team).

Not the best ever, but this one was pretty great, especailly the timing, that goal and eventual win propelled us on that massive roll to get into the POs. Without that win, it would've been very, very hard to get in, maybe 8th.

About 1:15 in. And the Kovalev goal on McLean that wound up being the cover of NHL94. Can't find a link.

Trading Kovalev and Zubov... the beginning of the end for Neil Smith.

It's a great goal. And its a big goal.

But I put it below the Leetch goal. Leetch's goal set a tone for game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. If the Ranger don't win that game/series/Cup, Matteau's becomes a footnote.

Leetchs goal off of Gretzkys back hand pass in 99', Gretzkys last game.

Messier's behind the net goal bouncing the puck off of a montreal goalie opening night 2000.

Theo Flurey running over Broduer, scoring & than standing over him while Broduer was on his back & theo was saying somthing to him & laughing with his toothless smile.

Ditto. Though Mark Messier got credit for it--I always thought it should have been Noonan's as well. But that's the best Ranger goal ever--it won us a cup and ended 20 some years of misery for me.

I always thought that was Noonan's goal also. You would think a great learder like Messier would have said something though. I know it's not the best goal ever, but it's one of my favorites from the pre-youtube era. Tomas Sandstrom vs. the Islanders on New Year's eve in I'd say, 1987? Maybe 1988? In the waning seconds of overtime, Sandstrom gets the puck behind the Islander net, and Rosen makes the call, "Sandstrom... looking... looking..." Sandstrom comes out from the right side of the net and on his backhand hits the top corner of the far side over the goalie's shoulder to win the game, and Rosen comes in with "HE SCORES!!! THE RANGERS WIN!!!" I had only been watching hockey for a few years, I was about 15. It's by no means a historic goal, but it's one my little brother, the goalie, and me, the right winger reenacted thousands of times growing up.

Two come to mind. The first was at the beginning of OT against SJ at the Garden--SJ had never won a game against the Rangers and had managed to tie it up, the teams line up at center ice, Messier wins the draw to Amonte, who races down the right side and slams it home. Took all of 8 seconds.

Second one was Samuelsson's first NHL goal--shorthanded no less--against Patrick Roy who was on a 4 game shutout streak. Samuelsson picks off a pass and comes over the center line alone, Roy (of course) comes storming out of his net, skates almost to the blueline, tries to poke it away from him and misses!

My personal favorite as well. My brother and I always joke about how we would have gotten the puck, spazzed out and shot it into mclean without taking any time. Amazing.

Malik probably has the most creative goal ever, from the shootout vs. the Caps
