my first child (boy or girl) will be _________ Radek Bonk Mitchell.
I was ecstatic when he had a great start to this year in Nashville, and even though Smoke wasn't too terrible i would have much rather had Bonk back instead.
He wasen't really fringe...but Martin Rucinsky was a pretty good player for a couple of years. What a giant nose on that guy!
Also remember how Murray Baron got knocked out in a fight in his first couple of games after he got traded to us?? Poor guy was never the same...Murray BARRRRRON! Worst. Trade. Ever.
Also Dave Manson, Zarley Zalapski, Patrick Poulin, Peter Popovic, Igor Ulanov, Jason Dawe. Man did we ever suck at the end of the 90's and the turn of the millenium...ewwww
And yes...we even had Barry Richter and Darryl Shannon on our team in 2000-2001. Ugh!
I'm surprised no one mentioned Mario Roberge. He's the definition of fringe player. But he gave it all he could.
Someone mentioned Odelein. He may have fit at the start of his career, but that was it. He had himself a very nice career. One of the guys who did the most out of what little talent he had.
I love these kinds of players. So my list is long:
Chris Nilan, Sergio Momesso, Mike Lalor, John Kordic, Tom Chorske, Mario Roberge, Mike Keane (I don't think he counts, but just in case), Kevin Haller, Todd Ewen, Ed Ronan, Turner Stevenson, Chris Murray, Scott Thornton, Sergei Zholtok, Aaron Asham, Trent McCleary, Gino Odjick, Bill Lindsay, Jim Dowd, Darren Langdon, Garth Murray.
That's about it. I left off some players I wouldn't define as fringe: McPhee, Skrudland, Odelein, etc.

Kordic was definitely one of my favorites. I always made sure to keep my eyes on him when he was on the ice. You just never knew what he was going to do next.
It's too bad the way his career/life turned out. He was actually a pretty good hockey player in juniors.

I got to watch Kordic in his final days playing in the AHL with Cape Breton. It was sad, he was going through the motions but was never really there. Just a shell of a man.
Does anyone have any recent updates on Theo Fleury? He carries around a load of demons too, I hope someone can get through and straighten him out.
