Of note to horror buffs, the film was directed by Steve Miner who made "Friday the 13th Part 2," "Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3-D" and "Halloween: H20."

Also, in 2005, "Day of the Dead 2: Contagium" was released. You might ask how could there be a "Day of the Dead 2" when the original "Day of the Dead" was itself a Part 3, and it had already been sequelized that year with "Land of the Dead," but in asking those questions, you'd already have put more thought into it then the filmmakers did.

Day of the Dead 2: Contagium and Day of the Dead (2008) are top 25 bad movies IMO! I cant believe those jack#@%!( couldn't make a decent zombie movie. They aren't even so bad that they are funny. They are just atrocious. I didn't expect them to be any good when i saw them but i figured they would have a few parts that were entertaining.

I recently bought C.H.U.D. and Return of the Killer Tomatoes. Hadn't seen either since i was a kid and they were on Svengolie her in Chicago area. I loved them as a kid and still love laughing at them. Anyone remember the old Troma movies? Those were great such films as Toxic Avenger and Class of Nukem High! I miss the 80's!

Any horror movie that is a reflection of what could happen in "real" life is probably as close as you're gonna get as truly scary.

Session 9 was pretty darn good at that.

On the other hand, "IT" prevented me from sleeping for like 3 months as a kid...
I have read practically every Stephen King novel out there. As a result of reading IT, and watching it on TV, I still have a fear of clowns at the age of 25 . It also does not help watching documentaries about individuals like John Wayne Gacey.

As for fav horror movies, a genre that I absolutely love, my top-5 list is as follows:

1. Seven (borderline inclusion on list)
2. The Ring
3. Halloween (Micheal Myers slow walk is a classic)
4. Silence of the Lambs (Clarice...)
5. Identity

However, if someone could help me out with some underground (i.e., not mainstream) horror films, and directors that I should look for, it would be greatly appreciated.

lol! Very true, but...

Mr.Mcphee!! C'mon!!

A "romantic comedy" doesn't equal a "gay porn" flick! But, I know what you mean by what you wrote...you put a funny image of the Flinstones' meeting in my head! (I also wanted to get a reaction! and I got it!). I was also just finding it funny that I've seen "horror movie" threads only. To be more macho or manly, maybe someone can open a "favorite action movie?" thread!!! (anyways, I'm just kidding around ).

It's a cheesy example, but..."The Wedding Singer" (with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore)...isn't that a romantic comedy? If so, is someone homosexual for liking it!!

OR,

Have you ever seen "The Party" (starring the classic Peter Sellers)?
Isn't that a romantic comedy? (maybe more comedy than romantic-comedy, but there is romance in the end, no?!!! anyways...it's all good/ok...!!

In a nutshell, I wanted to get a reaction, but...imagine if we did have a thread called "favorite romantic comedies" and HAB fans here posted movies like The Notebook and Love Actually as their favorites! It would be funny or...maybe not!!! (imo, nothing wrong with it, except we are on a hockey Boards site not a movie Boards talk site!!).

(all that said/written...I can't $%&* wait for June 20th and July 1st!!).

------------------- ------------

EDIT: like someone else mentioned, the movie... SEVEN (with Brad Pitt & Gwyneth Paltrow) was a very original, grim/dark "thriller/suspense" HORROR film with an actual moral story to it.
Let's put it this way, you can enjoy watching When Harry Met Sally, you probably shouldn't call the guys over to watch it. Further, don't ever say, 'Hey they're down 2 goals, anyone want that Hugh Grant movie on ?'

Aside from the corny movies that scared the **** out of me when i was young (The Freddys and Jasons and Chuckys), I really liked The Excorcism of Emily Rose.

The thing that was freaky is that it's a true store and 2nd they used the actual recording of "Satan's" voice that occured in the real event. It spooked me.

I agree that 2 and 3 did suck but they still had there fair amount of entertaining moments.

I wish Troma didn't go belly up! It is back but not as good.

Anyone see Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead? Is it a throwback to the old Troma films or is it today's C&#$?

The movie's not great, but this scene ranks with one of the best ever in horror. I nearly shat myself the first time I saw it.

I personally really like Candyman. No idea why.

Really looking forward to The Strangers, though it's received mixed reviews from advance screeners.

For me, I mostly like movies that have high 'scary factor', but also classic gory ones, like Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and 3 (in the hospital), Friday the 13th (except Jason X...), and others such as Polthergeist 1-2-3, Event Horizon, Mouth of Madness, House on Haunted Hill...

That's not really a horror movie though...it's more like a psychological thriller. But I agree, I loved the movie...I loved how they made it and I loved how the actors played. Very well done.

Saw The Strangers tonight. It was good. Not great, but good. It's pretty f'd up though, which helps with the scariness since there's no paranormal aspect to the movie. It's just f'd up people. Great date movie.
