Last I heard he still has one year left on a 2 year contract. He spent this last season in Houston with the Aeros.

Rumors at AI have him headed back home. Seems like speculation in a sense that the guys has a one way deal this coming season. Nothing concrete on his return home, it just seems un-realisitc though being he's so close to an attempt at the NHL level.

Actually with Dallas moving in and then Fernandez might not be moving, and Holmqvist not getting any younger, I think it would be in Holmqvist's interest to move back to Sweden.

Maybe not but the incentives are nicer over in Europe than over here. I think it really depends if the Wild ARE really trying to unload Fernandez and bring up Holmqvist that he stays.

How's that work? If he leaves, his contract is voided? Is that how it goes? It was rumored to be a pretty good deal in the second year. Couldn't he just stick around and take the money? I mean, assuming he didn't mind either not playing or playing somewhere he wasn't happy.

Well it depends. I believe the contract is voided but Johan has been playing in the minors for 5 years now, turning 26...So he knows that if the Wild don't really move Fernandez there will be no choice for him to move up and his window of opprotunity shrinks even further. I personally believe he is ready, he needs a little bit of work but he's ready now. Trade Fernandez to move up in the 2nd or the 1st or get another 2nd and get it over with. Hell trade Fernandez for a 3rd. But if we lose Holmqvist, we are in big, big trouble I believe unless Harding comes in and blows everyone away.
