I interpreted that as Melanson pointing out that Price is the one guy who will pretty much always be on the ice when things get ugly, since he's the one guy who's on the ice for the full 60 minutes of the game (usually); they can't be putting in Halak everytime things aren't going our way.

No, what Melanson is saying is that when Price finds himself in a tough situation, he's going to have to figure out a way to get through it. This takes training and experience.

Basically how not to turn one bad goal into 2 or 3. Its a common thing for young goalies to work on.

Well yeah, that's basically what I meant. Price is gonna be out there when things get ugly, and since he's the goalie, he has to stay out there. Therefore, he's got to find a way to deal with things getting bad and not let them get worse. Sorry, I should have written out the conclusion part too.

Out of that group my preference is Aubin, but I don't think Halak is signed sealed & delivered yet as the #2 in Montreal.

His agent has already said that he wants to play as a #1 next season & that he has had offers from Europe.

Lookit, this kid knows the writing is on the wall about who is going to lay the workload for the habs not only next season but for many seasons to come & it is a complete deadend gig for him. He doesn't play a lot of mnutes his skills can start to erode & that wouldn't be any better for him than playing full time in Europe for a couple of season before getting another at the NHL.

That said, if he does go down that road, his best return for the Habs will come this summer.

His agent can say one thing, but there is no way in hell a team will hand the reigns to Halak as the Numero Uno before the kid even plays one full season.

Secondly, I find Halak to be a smallish goalie...there is always ample room upstairs on the kid and the competition committee is set on further reducing Goalie Equipments. That does not bold well for a guy like Halak, he just doesn't fill the net (even standing).

My gut feeling with Halak, he'll be a very good back up...with the uncertainty of the equipment issue...I wouldn't hand him the reigns just yet.

I hope we keep halak long enough so he can land us something very good, Toskala type.

If all of Deschamps, Toews, M. Sauve, are gone when we pick I hope Timmins take Pickard or Markstromm.
