This guy should be high up on our offseason list for trades.

53 points, incredible two-way game, fast as can be...

Possibly going to be moved since there's been rumors this entire time that Ottawa might be trying to trade him since he's a RFA.

This is a guy that could change our team quite a bit, if you ask me.

Go get him, Slats.

I see this thread now, though: "Blah blah blah, another center *** bvlahasdfhasyr823762389r6q79dfhsdfhdick666****brod eurisfat" and all of that like it gets sometimes. But who cares if he's a damn center? He's an amazing PKer and fantastic on the face-offs. It enables us to throw Dubinsky onto the wing (where I feel he'd be more effective, anyway) and have him and Drury out there on the PK (we'd never lose a face-off!).

Where's the rumor?

None of these rumors are ever true. Ever. None.

No trades will happen in the off-season, mark my words. Just won't.

I see Sather going after one guy and one guy only and that's Pitkanen and if he doesn't get him he'll just try to re-sign the guys he can.

many ottawa fans dont think the team can afford him if they desire to go after a goalie or rebuild their defense...which is the more pressing need....with players like alfreddson, spezza, heatley, fischer already signed for big deals...and phillips and volchenkov i believe are on pretty expensive deals as well as the rest of their lineup......remember they couldnt keep comrie or schaefer

i would not mind going after vermette one bit. he's always been a guy I have had a soft spot for with his superb skating. definitely a type of player this team needs to start adding. vermette-korpikoski would be a nice two/thirds of a third line..

Love his game. Great player. However, I think he's going to cost a lot to sign. Not to mention probably take a bit to get him away from Ottawa to begin with.

Just no reason to post on the boards in the off-season really I've noticed. It's a bunch of BS stacked up on other BS. Can't wait for July 1st though where I don't have to read about this crap on Newspapers and here about so and so being available and coming here and this and that when I can just see what happens.

i would give him what he wanted as he would be the extra forward the rangers would need to pay in the offseason anyways and he is a better option than anyone out there....plus with his speed i think he woul dbe great on gomez's wing

If Vermette were anywhere else but Ottawa, he'd be a 75 point - 80 point winger with an incredible two-way game. He's that good. Fact is, the depth in Ottawa always kept Vermette back. I've always liked Vermette and wished there was a way the Flyers could acquire him.

Yeah. You're right. All I post is BS. Get some tact.

As far as I can tell, the rumors have been going for practically half the year. Ottawa is probably going to have to trade him for salary reasons in the offseason it would appear. At least that's what's been talked about.

If you don't want to read threads like this, then stay off the board.

1st, a cheaper roster player (likely a forward -- unless they plan on going with some young guys like Foligno, etc.), and probably a prospect.

I would certainly do that trade. Not sure if Ottawa would, but I'm definitely down. I think that they'd want a higher end prospect, though. A guy like Anisimov.

id love to expand the trade and do something like

Tyutin Sauer Prucha Anisimov 1st 08 2nd 09 for Volchenkov+Vermette

though thats probably not even close to enough on our end.

i would leave sangs out and take volchenkov out as volchenkov is overrated....he is a #4 at best, plus the fact that he wont stay healthy much longer with all the shots he blocks.....he plays with phillips who cancels out a lot of his mistakes....pass on that one

volchenkov isnt that good...the guy we would want is phillips....tyutin is better than volchenkov, he blocks a lot of shots, however he gets in the way of the goalie a lot too trying to block the shots and creates a screen and a lot of shots go off him and in as he is in a poor position........no way i would do that trade.........like i said, phillips is the guy we would want if we were looking at any defenseman that they have and i doubt he will be traded as he is their defense

Even though he's a center, I'd definitely be interested. Love to see him as a Ranger depending on the price.
