I can think of dozens of scenarios for the Habs off season but one thing is 99.9% going to happen. That is that Michael Ryder is not coming back. He's been ridiculously inconsistant and we would have to resign him which seems like a waste of money since he is a scratch most of the time.
so can we get anything for him? or is no team gonna touch this until we have no choice but to let him go to free agency. He has as much value for a team as a 7th rounder and a buckets of pucks.
He'll just walk away as a free agent. He's not the kind of player any team is going to trade anything for to secure advance negotiating rights.
And all the best to him, I think he has a pretty good chance of making the Habs look bad for letting him go so easily. I just hope he doesn't go to Boston or another division rival. Somewhere out West would be ideal.

You absolutely cannot get anything for him at this point...it would be hard enough if he was still under contract, at least now you can wash your hands from him finally...
How does he do on the LW. I for one could see the Sharks taking a chance on him... maybe 2 years 2.25m/per.
No coach on the Habs has been smart enough since Ryder's been here to at least TRY him on the LW. He's a righty, and the only thing he does well is shoot the puck. Offwing anyone? I see some potential there. But no.
I see him signing with Boston to play under Claude Julien. Knowing this, if I was BG, I'd just give him away at the draft for futures (for nothing) to a western team (maybe Dallas, so he could play with Ribeiro). So they get to negotiate with him before he hits the market. That way, theres a good chance Ryder doesn't come back to bite us in the arse 8 times a year.

Very good on the PP. Completely lost at even-strength (on the LW). Actually this year, he was kinda lost pretty much everywhere, save for some very short hot streaks.
I'm betting someone in need of a second line RW signs him to a one year deal at around $2-2.5 million. I can't see him getting any more than that after the year he had.
I'm kind of alone in my thoughts about Ryder on the Rangers boards, but if he could be had for a 1 year deal at 2-3 mil, I'd love for Sather to take a chance on him. He just seems like he has the right game --or lack-thereof from what I've heard-- to fit along nicely with Gomez. I think what Gomez needs is a guy who doesn't want to do anything offensively other than shoot. Seems like that's Ryder in a nutshell.

That would largely depend on the size of that contract.
Sure he's not of much use when he's not scoring goals (which he wasn't this past season); but he's still managed to score 30 goals the previous two seasons (and 25 goals three seasons ago). He's not coming off a major injury - so that's not an issue.
But yeah, his "negotiating rights" aren't really worth anything at this point when you consider the chances of the Habs re-signing him aren't that great.

For the right price, he'd look great in a Sens uniform. If this happens, the Habs will certainly regret letting him go.
I hear that, I'm actually hoping Murray signs him. I'd like to see him on a line with Spezza and Alfie and Heater on his own (it would definately improve our scoring depth).

I still like Ryder but this last season, he seem to not have what it toked to play top 6 mins(winger that is)
He needs the right type of center and if smart, Boston should be where he signs.
Why the cry? Simple, with Savard at center and I don't know....Lucid on the other wing Julien was the guy who gaved him his chance.
For all us Canadiens fans...I hope not! I want him in the west.
The guy has just lost his niche. That all.
