Hudler

Hudler has obviously proven his worth. Would it make sense to entice zhogi back or try grabs between Begin and Lapierre to add some spice to the lower lines? Can we be entirely sure that those players wont continue to develop?

I always liked Zhogi and was sad to see him go. But unfortunately from what I've been hearing/reading, it's not so much trying to entice him back. It's more him changing his mind and wanting to come back to North America.

Hudler is more of a Grabovski than a Perezhogin IMO.

Plus last night he was bad until he scored that fluky goal.

14 points in 20 playoff games this year. Not bad for a 3rd liner especially considering he only sees about 11 minutes of ice time per game.

its quite remrkable the numbers that hudler puts up when you consider his minimal ice time. You give this kid 2nd line time and he will step it up some more in the production department.

We need more grit on the Habs not more of Grabber brings.

At this point in time with the team, I consider both Zhogin & Grabber nothing more han trading chips, if anyone were interested in either or both.

Or you give this kid 2nd line time & the Wings don't make it out of the second round??

notice, i didnt say first line time because I dont think he would be effective against the top shutdown lines from other teams.

you cant blame the wings for depth...

The idea was that sparkle on the grit lines cant hurt if the sizzle isnt too soft eg Streit with Chip and Lats.

They swept Colorado in the second round so you're saying putting Hudler on the 2nd line instead of Samuelson or Filpulla would've made Colorado win 4 games instead of 0? Makes sense I guess...

No, I'm saying babcock knows his better than any of us, thus they beat Colorado in four straight, must mean Babcock was correct in placing Hudler on the fourth line.

BTW, did hudler play all four games??

He hit a guy 1 second after he got rid of the puck and got a bogus "interference" call?

I think Hudler is proving that his ilk of player (Grabovski is also similar) can contribute to a team so long as they are used in a depth role.

Perhaps this means that Grabovski can be a part of a Cup contender if he is used on the 4th line/2nd PP unit to provide a bit of spark here or there. However, I think if Grabovski is used as a 2nd/3rd liner regularly that it reflects a lack of appropriate skill in the top 9 for us to be a legitimate contender.

The thing about Perez, is he left for Russia because he was unhappy with playing on the depth lines in Montreal. He wouldn't come back to play with Begin and Lapierre. He's happy being a bigger fish in a smaller pond, than playing a useful yet unglamorous role in the best league in the world.

Grabs could be an asset as a depth scorer. I think we will see the Habs go to 3 scoring lines and one checking line sooner than later. Grabs can definitely fill a depth role if they do.

Hudler isn't close to Grabovski in integrity, passion and work ethic. We have tons of small forwards who are talented offensively but are too small to hold a top 6 spot.

Totally agree. Hudler is better.

Do you know both these guys or something?

If Hudler can hold a full time slot on Detroit he holds one on Montreal since top to bottom Detroit>>>>Montreal

Hudler runs the second PP unit with Kronners. That's what matters. His regular shifts will come.
