New TSN Deal Means More Leafs, Less Habs

New TSN/NHL Agreement Signed

And what does it mean? Apparently there are actually two more Habs games than last year, despite my initial outrage. I could have sworn it was 20+ last year, but as someone with superior google skills below pointed out, my memory isn't on my side today.

We were the most shown team before, but now second, despite the increase.

In the new deal, the Leafs grab that mantel, with 17 showing. We get 15 and the other Canadian teams get 10 each.

MODs: Can you change the thread title to something more generic since I am clearly an idiot?

TSN probably picked up more of the games that they show on Leaf TV, so they'll be yawners like Toronto vs NY Islanders or the Thrashers. Leaf TV is a specialty channel which showed a number of games last year and I think MLSE was hoping a lot (fans would subscribe) would jump on board for the network but didn't see it happening and needed to get revenues and TSN being the hockey junkie they are jumped at the chance of showing more Leaf games.

We have no reason to whine since we have RDS who broadcast the 82 games + the playoffs. Yes i do prefer watching the Habs on TSN but that's just a minor issue. And it's not like TSN won't show any Habs game anyway.

We should be happy with what we have and leave it at that

Well there are about 5-7 less Habs games and it makes me sad, as I like the TSN broadcast crew the best.

I loathe CBC.

Luckily, I do speak French, but the RDS production values are very much 80s.

Speak for yourself. No RDS in this neck of the woods unless you're on satellite, or digital.

Right?

I don't mind. I've gotten used to watching 70 games a year on RDS anyway.

I am lucky to be able to get RDS in my regular cable package.
Leafs games TV rights must have been on sale.

It says that TSN will get the rights to broadcast Canadian teams in the playoffs. What happens to the CBC coverage, then?

Actually it only says they now have the possibility of airing a 1st round playoff series (nothing beyond the first round) featuring a Canadian team. It would probably only happen if more than one Canadian team from the same conference made it.

You're wrong. TSN will have more Montreal games than last season. They aired 13 games last season, so TSN's coverage is up by 2 at 15 games. Where are you getting your information. Geez. Here's the article from last season http://prodtsn.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=216198

Apparently so. I was operating from memory, but I could have sworn on someone or other's grave that the number was 20 or more. Apparently not.

I cannot find any facts to support this, but could I have been including regional games as well, perhaps? I am now baffled, to be honest, hehe.

That sounded high to me, so I checked the NHL website. TSN showed 13 Habs games last year.
EDIT: LesHabsRock beat me to it.

TSN's hockey broadcasts are the best (IMHO). So, I starting reading this thread being sad, but ended reading it being happy.

The amount of money you'd spend on beer for 82 games is like twenty times the satellite or digital would cost you.

Pleasantries aside, I don't understand french but RDS is what I watch majority of the time. Why? because I don't like the fact TSN and CBC ***** themselves to the leafs.
