Spezza

I highly doubt the Senators move him (I hope). It would be a very bad move by Brian Murray if he was to do this after signing him to a new deal with a NTC. I consider him a 1st line center, and see him as a very valuable player, possibly comparable to the great Stevie Y at the same age. What is the value of Spezza around the league?

It'll take a hell of a lot more than Spezza aka "I Float" to get Luongo.

As a Sens fan I would do that deal. Although it would hurt Vancouver a lot. One thing I notice among the fanbases though is how underated Spezza is, he often gets knocked on, but he is our most clutch playoff performer in recent franchise history. Yes he had a bad run this year, but our whole team was doing terrible with obvious locker room issues. Spezza in my eyes is a 100-110 pt player if he plays a full season.

Not enough. Probably add in Carle and take back some salary. Not sure how San Jose can afford it, and for that matter, Ottawa too.

This would pose way to many cap problems for the Senators, plus would it make sense for San Jose to have two legit 1st line centers?

Championship teams are built around goaltending and depth down the middle. I don't know how Ottawa could afford it, though.

I really wasn't considering it a viable option... Just responding to what I thought his value would be.

Thats a really solid offer, but it would leave such a big hole on our first line center.

Hahhaa and I was being generous towards Columbus there. Nash + 1st would be more fair, or maybe a 2nd in '08 and 2nd in '09.
