Poll with discussion: Carey Price or Marc-Andre Fleury?

(Ok... these boards are maybe a little bit slow leading up to Free-Agency Season and the NHL Draft...)

Fleury or Price?

Everyone who has been following the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs has now had a chance to get a serious look at what Pittsburg's MAF can do in nets.

Fleury played an amazing Game 5 in Detroit on Monday night to say the least... some of his splits saves were for ones the ages (Can Price even do the splits?)

Poll Question:

Who will likely be considered the better goalie in 3 seasons from now?

Fleury or Price?

as for the topic itself, both of them are very talented and its a tough call.
seeing as Price accomplished more in the minors, Ill say Price

Price's mental breakdown this spring aside, I think he's already better than Fleury. Much better puck handler, much better positioning, I think the only thing Fleury has over Price right now is the glove hand which seems to be Price's achille's heel at this point in time. But he's 20, so it'll obviously get much better like the rest of his game

Price by a landslide

Fleury played great last game, but the series would've looked a lot different if he didn't let in that brutal goal by Hudler in game 4.

Price has achieved a lot more than Fleury was at 20 (1 playoff series win, 1 calder cup win as MVP, 1 World Jrs Championship as MVP)

Price is way better positionally and is a better puck handler, the only thing Fleury will be better than Price at is making pretty saves.

I'll give him credit he has been spectacular but IMO you never know about him.

Really I lost all faith since that World Jrs, even though it wasn't his fault I still blame him. Then seeing him fall in the first game I thought, oh no here we go again, but he has been good. Detroit still wins.

Price is off to the better start but very few goalies get to the finals. I think Price will have the better career but Fleury has set the bar thus far.

Who really knows with goalies? Khabibulin looked like a future hall of famer at one point, Belfour was supposed to be what Brodeur became, and people are talking about Detroit's perennial back-up(Osgood) as being a candidate for the Hall of Fame.

Judge em after a decade, I say.

Fleury certainly has his coming out party this season.

I don't know if Fleury is going to stay hot next year or have a big of a "new contract slump" but he certainly won't be considered a 1st overall flop.

I still believe, purely based on what I see from Price, that he'll be the best goaltender in the NHL for several years, but those years are not here yet.

Price

Fleury has a face only a mother could love. He could actually be the ugliest kid of all time.

wait....what was the question again?

I believe that Price will be a better goalie over his career. I really do.
But that doesn't mean Fleury is not going to be amazing. It just means Price is going to be more amazing. Maybe not over the next three seasons. But definitely over the next 10 seasons.

Google Pascal LeClaire. I dares ya.

Maybe there's some weird initiation thing with Q goalies where they have to stick their heads in a vice...

I think both will be excellent.

Price probably has more upside, simply because he's 3 years younger.

Well, Price has the potential to be an elite goalie. In three years? Maybe. But Fleury has the advantage at the moment.

Price.

As much as Fleury is better right now, I just can't stand his arrogant smile.

Fleury will end up shooting the puck at his own defenceman and in the net to cost his team the Cup.

I guess a Habs board Price love fest is in order since he's getting landslided by Fleury on the the NHL Polls board.

That pool is bogus anyways...it's preys on the "what have you done for me in the past two weeks" mentality. You shouldn't need a thread like this to justify that you've got a great young goalie.

But if you feel the need to trash another goalie to build yours up...feel free.

1) Did you read the original question?
2) Do you know which board you're on?
3) If you saw a Staal vs Richards poll on the Flyers forum, would you say they were 'trashing' Staal?
4) Can I introduce you to LordChezz(z)?

Now I remember why I never post of these boards.

Funny how this thread pops up here just days after this one pops up on the NHL Polls board. If you don't want to admit this is a direct attempt to validate your own goalie's worth you're delusional. All I ever said was that this really isn't even necessary. Price is a great goalie with an even greater future. This just smacks of insecurity.

But I wonder who will win? Wow...what a shocker. Price is at 83%.

Notice I didn't vote? I'm a cool enough guy and have respect for each team and their boards. So have fun...I just wanted to state my opinion.
