Outdoor/BigO game in Montreal?

I guess there has been a previous thread here about rumours, but I haven't seen this posted yet.

I just got my season ticket invoice in the mail. The following message is right at the top:

"Si un match de la saison reguliaire a lieu a l'exterieure du Centre Bell (en pourparlers avec la NHL), 2 options vous seront offertes.
Option 1-bla bla bla
Option 2-Possibilite d'acheter vos billets pour ce match en payant la difference entre le prix de vos billets au Centre Bell et le prix (a determiner) des billets pour le match exterieur."

Does the roof even come off (intentionally) anymore?

That's why I bolded the regular season part, pre season games are always played all over, but I've never had a note like this on my invoice.

I would assume not at the Big O, it would have to be at Percival Molson stadium or some other outside venue.

Molson stadium holds fewer people than the Bell Centre, and has far fewer luxury suites. I know TV revenues are increased for an outdoor game, but I don't think it would be enough to cover the loss of all those corporate boxes.

I guess it would have to be Olympic Stadium, or maybe the game would be played outside at a neutral venue. Even maybe it could be a game in Chicago/New York/Toronto/Wherever, but Montreal would be the home team or something.

New roof in the works for Big O stadium

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/st...eroof0506.html

looks like the roof could be off the Big 0 after november '08. an outdoor game might not be out of the question after all.

Hockey at the big O? It sucked for baseball, it would be worse for hockey.

It would be amazing, I know. But unless they they do major renovations (IE: the roof) I can't see it happening.

No kidding.

Especially if the roof is still on for such a game.

It would be awful. Just awful.

I don't really like the idea of a hockey game in a baseball stadium. The seats configuration is much more suitable in a football or soccer venue IMO.

The big O can be configured to host football.

Speaking of that, the 96th Grey Cup will be hosted at The Big O in November. Hopefully the Als stop sucking and get back to the Grey Cup game. And imagine much more special would it be to win it in Montreal.

I'd rather see it at Molson Stadium. Outdoor game > Indoor with 50K fans. It's true for the Alouettes and would be true for the Habs. The Big O is just not a place that's fun to be in.

Wow, if the roof comes off and it's snowing, I would love it. I'd be lining up for tickets. Watch Kovy dangle up the ice with 50 000 fans on the end of their seats = heaven for me.
