He sounds like a Swede who's been in Detroit for too long.

..probably because that's what he is.

LOL! Thought the same thing. I was expecting some thick Lugosi accent.

I am in awe of the Red Wings system.

As am I. They are just so impressive. They look like they have 8 guys on the ice.

Great game, great series. Saw the third period at a bar near Yankee Stadium..was a hell of a finish. So glad to see the Pens go home losers.

Great win but jeez did anyone else get annoyed at that phantom hooking call at the end of the 3rd and then the non call with knocking the stick out of the wings d-man hands during the Pen's PP?

Refs, ya did all you could but it didn't work out - the better team won.

The best one was the blatant trip on Datsyuk at center ice with like 20 seconds left in the game.

Yeah well, eveyone enjoy bashing Sid and that franchise now casue if they play their cards right(and they have so far), they'll be winning big Stanley sooner rather than later.

It's hard not to think there isn't SOME NBA-ref-type stuff going on or something fishy.

Some of the calls/no calls have been game changing and just maddening.

Meh, like I said, the better team won.

Maybe but hopefully teams will start picking them apart. There's a chance they lose Hossa and Orpik this offseason and might be forced to pay close to $6 mill to Fluery. Then next summer they will have to pony up close to $12 mil for Malkin plus have to resign Staal and Gonchar. With any luck by September 2009 they will have almost $28 mill locked up in Crybaby, Malkin and Fluery. Lets see them build a team around that, unless by some miracle the cap shoots up to $75 mill. With the cap its going to become pretty difficult to keep more than 1 or 2 guys making the league max.

I'm interested to see what happens with the pens in the off season, if they lose hossa and malone they become a one line team, those arent easy guys to replace, i could see orpik walking for a decent offer
UFA's
Roberts
Malone
Laraque
Hossa
Hall
Ruutu
Dupuis
Orpik

plus Fleury just played his heart out in the finals, and guess what, he's RFA this summer...and next summer Malkin's an RFA, along with Staal and Talbot...
Now this is a situation most teams would like to have, but with the cap and the rise of the offer sheet, things could get interesting

more than just the cap, the offer sheets can kill them, I'd be shocked if atleast 2 of Malkin, Staal and Fleury dont get offer sheets if the pens dont lock them up quick

...and just as an aside, theres no way they pay Malkin more than Crosby though

No doubt about it...they are a great young team and they will be around for a while..but they have alot of questions this offseason to address in terms of depth - which you could argue was a bigger reason than Crosby or Malkin that they got as far as they did.

Their biggest offseason question...

is Hossa, who was a rental and perhaps cannot be afforded to resign to a 4-year contract. He was the perfect acquisition for them at the deadline because it didn't cost the Pens a full season and he was complementary. But like with all rentals, now he has to be replaced, and with whom do they replace him? Further, looking out, if Fleury continues to play like this, in a couple years they likely will not be able to afford all their great talent, so what's to be done there. But looking to the immediate future, it's really replacing Hossa that's the real issue. I think much of the rest may be easier to replace.
