I'm against trading away any of our top young Dmen for unproven kids. We have a nice mix in a foundation of Girardi, Staal and Tyjtin. I'm confident they will all get better as they continue to mature.
I maintain that the Rangers need some big bodies with solid potential and legit mean streaks, both upfront and on D.
With a draft this deep, trading down might be a good option for acquiring the right prospects.
I just don't know why Sather doesn't try to acquire more picks in trades.
It should be interesting to see. You never really see draft pick trades before draft day though unless it's for the top pick which we obviously won't get.
To me, I guess it depepnds on the situation. If you have a guy ranked in your top 5, and he drops to say 10-19 then I'd rather see them use picks to move up. For arguments sake, let's say they rank Wilson as a top 5 talent, and think he will be a really good player. I'd rather see them use pick/players to move up, and grab him rather then slide down. Of course, that could be a great deal (Staal) or a terrible deal... who knows... you have to try and have confidence in your scouts... and Sather...
