According to an article, he sold his home in Los Angeles. I doubt that he would do that if he were at all considering a return to the area. I can see him returning to San Jose, since his wife has family there (and she stayed with them during the playoffs, while in labor), but the other two California teams are probably out.
He was a #4 with the Flames and still looked bad (i.e go for hit and put himself out of position). He's fine a filler second-pairing D-man if you don't have any better options.
Offensively he's kinda done... nice shot, but I don't see him hitting 30pts.
Stuart was just fine in Calgary... threw some big hits and he wasnt caught out of position that often... he really stabilized Regehr after being paired together... and he was the flames best player not named Kiprusoff in the 07 playoffs

Wasn't Regehr playing injured for stretches in the latter half? He wasn't his usual self.
And Phaneuf was kinda raw last year and Iginla + the rest of the sucked in the first two playoff games (ala Pens against the Wings this year).

DETROIT - The blond highlights that streaked through Brad Stuart's hair earlier this season are gone. The former Bruins defenseman has sold his place in Los Angeles and is living here in an apartment.
Appropriately, Stuart has shed just about every part of Southern California he adopted this season.
"We talked a little bit about an extension," said Stuart, traded by Kings general manager Dean Lombardi to Detroit at the deadline for a 2008 second-round pick and a fourth-round selection in 2009. "That didn't work out, so I kind of knew. I was told I was probably going to get traded. I think they're looking more to the future - a little more to the future than I wanted. They didn't feel they'd be a contender for three or four more years. They wanted draft picks, prospects. So I pretty much knew at that point that something was going to happen."
First where did you read that? Second the Wings won't sign him for the 4-5 million he'll require..
Right, youtube it or it didn't happen? I watch a lot of games and the interviews, but just for ***** and giggles I found a quote close to it. But like I said winning the Stanley Cup now may have changed his mind. I am not buddies with Brad Stuart. I don't know what kind of person he is. Maybe he is happy with winning one Cup and then going to help LA? I guess we'll see in the near future.

Stuart had some contract talks with the Kings earlier this season.
"The message I kind of sensed was they don't expect to be a real good contender for three, four, five years," Stuart said. "I want to be on a team that has a chance to win now and in the future."
I realize he will get more than $3 mill per season. IMHO we are way to deep at defense at the moment and would rather see him go if he wants more money and let some of the young guys have a shot. Either way I unfortunately think Detroit will have to deal away some of its Dmen before the draft.
