look a few posts before yours and you should get your answer

Someone else posted that perhaps this is not officially announced yet because other signings are close to hapenning...that would make sense. Either way I would assume an official word would have to come up very soon

Dallas Drake 65 3 3 6 -12
Kris Draper 65 9 8 17 -2

Maxim Lapierre 53 7 11 18 +5

So those 3 guys, with all their experience, can't do a better job than Lapierre. Plus they are playing with Detroit. I know they do a good job, but maybe Lapierre would be as good if he was with Detroit. Give some time to Lapierre and keep him with the team and he will become a good 3rd, 4th liner. It's funny how people are quick to bash our young players.

Not that Lapierre had a bad year - I think he's on the way to being a good player. But you have to take into account how much he's been sheltered by our coaching staff. The only Hab who played against weaker opposition this season was Latendresse. Whereas Draper and company were Detroit's second option against elite players.

Here is the link that should have been posted in the first post:

http://www.corussports.com/hockey/no...06-962211.html

And it doesnt confirm the signing of a contract beyond any doubt. Seems more like a rumor to me.

Here's hoping he wasn't overpaid. He's fast, he's tenacious, he's got lots of energy... but he's also very prone to getting trapped in his own zone, even by fourth-liners, which was a serious issue int he playoffs.

700 K per year on the cap, 1.4 M total according to SRC. Good deal.

http://www.radio-canada.ca/sports/ho...-kapanen.shtml

Habs now at 36.3 M on the cap for 15 players.

Thanks Marc, that's better than the 2yr 1.6/1.8 that I thought it would be.

Latendresse? Can you show the stats to back this off?

RDS says 575 K for 08-09 and 800 K for 09-10. Which means a cap hit of 687,500.

Does anyone know how much the Cullimore and Salmelainen buyout is and its impact on this pending years cap? We should include those numbers in our calculation.

According to nhlnumbers.com, $0.640 for Cullimore, 0.125 for Salmelainen.

Sweet.

Higgins & Lapper will become key pieces to the Habs drive for 25 over the next several years. They may not lead the team with any stats(then again who knows???), but they are the type of players you need to grow within your system to become an elite team in this league.

I know it's not a perfect example but it's just to show you that he is not that bad compared to experimented players in the best NHL team and that he is young.
