First off, Cherry's comments always have to be taken with a grain of salt. At the same time, you have to expect such a fervent supporter of the Leafs to be a little biased against the team that knocked them out of the postseason.
Buuuut, that being said... Esche probably is a large reason why we lost that series. The defense did its job for the most part, but Esche let in far too many saveable shots for us to advance. Goals in the playoffs are scarce, especially when your forwards aren't scoring in droves either. If Esche makes the saves he's supposed to and learns to control those damn rebounds, we win the series in 5. Don't get me wrong, he was a wall against Jersey and Toronto and I love the effort he gave along with the rest of the team, but he was clearly the weakest link in the Tampa series.
no sir, the powerplay was definitly the weakest link, zero goals in the series, evan if it runs at 15% in that series we might have won
