Well, I would only consider an overpayment if Homer decides to move Carter. Carter and one UFA LW or RW woudl put Van over the top. They are solid on D with or with out Edler, 2nd or 3rd best goalie in the world. Good 1st line Sedin, solid 3rd line Kesler. They add Carter on 2nd line and UFA LW or RW and look out.
Last one was Demitra from Kings to Min for 1st round pick in 2006, Hartnell and Timonen to Philly for Nash 1st round pick last year.
Demitra for Patrick O'Sullivan and 1st. Demitra's stats on that Kings team:
58GP 25G 37A 62PTS +21 (Point per game and a consistent 30G scorer).
As for Hartnell + Timonen, it was for both and I suspect it was returning the 1st to the Preds for taking Forsberg off their hands and giving them a couple of players + prospects.

Personally, I'd love to have Raymond and/or Grabner in our organization.
Lupul is going to be the most attractive forward. Upshall isn't consistent and isn't going to fetch anyone of any significance. No one wants Knuble. Please. Gagne is too much of a health question mark.
Lupul is a nice asset, and Philly fans have to remember - YOU HAVE TO GIVE TO GET. Lupul may only bring a middle of the road DMan w/upside. Look around the league, there is a HIGH PERCENTAGE of teams in the league that are in search of DMEN.
Browsing these boards over the past few weeks it's crazy some of the proposals being put out there by some Flyers fans, trying to give as little as possible to get young, stud, DMen. Come on guys.

This is a silly argument that has somehow derived from your silly post. You're sounding the death-knell on a Canucks organization that is actually very healthy in terms of both prospects and current players. They've just shed some problematic contracts, have cap space to burn, and have a team that is a couple of scorers away from being a contender, by most accounts.
You got pissy and overreacted when people here thought that overpaying for your players was a bad idea.
