Unfortunately, that deal was proposed by a Flyers fan. I'd do it in a heartbeat, too. Vancouver fans would most likely ask to drop the 1st rounder entirely.
Well, I would only consider an overpayment if Homer decides to move Carter. Carter and one UFA LW or RW woudl put Van over the top. They are solid on D with or with out Edler, 2nd or 3rd best goalie in the world. Good 1st line Sedin, solid 3rd line Kesler. They add Carter on 2nd line and UFA LW or RW and look out.

Demitra for Patrick O'Sullivan and 1st. Demitra's stats on that Kings team:

58GP 25G 37A 62PTS +21 (Point per game and a consistent 30G scorer).

As for Hartnell + Timonen, it was for both and I suspect it was returning the 1st to the Preds for taking Forsberg off their hands and giving them a couple of players + prospects.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there some bad blood between Edler and some of the flyers organization?

Are you thinking of Ryan Kesler? Umberger and Kesler had some issues in college, and Upshall said, "I don't like that guy" when he was out injured and joined the announcers for a game this season. And, of course, Boulerice cross-checked him in the face.

Na we will let you trade both Sedins for Jokinen.. I mean per reports thats what Murray is asking for. Or miss playoffs. Why do we care? We are a playoff team and you are not.

and 2-3 years from now when you will have to resign Luongo and most of your d-sive core you won't have $. O yes, both Sedins will ask for over 7M a year next year. With no major prospects in your farm system you will have a great time. Enjoy.

Like, what did I say that was so wrong?

You have some great prospects? Who? With exception of Schneider who is a goalie.
Sedins are not going to ask for new contracts?
Luongo will not become UFA 2-3 years from now?
Most of your d-man have about 2-3 years left on their very good contracts because they were signed under a different low cap structure.

Just make it:

Edler + conditional 1st/2nd 09 for Carter.

The condition is based on how many goals Carter scores or if Edler gets X points.

Seriously, I suspect Nashville + Philly will be trading again this summer. It worked out last year, why not this year?

Schneider, Raymond, Hansen, White, Grabner, Ellington are all good prospects. Not to mention the 10th pick this year.

Sedins won't get 7M each.

Luongo will never reach UFA status with the Canucks.

Yes, like every team, the Canucks will have to re-sign, trade, or let players go when their contracts expire. What's your point?

With exception of Schneider the only player who stands out (he is a goalie) everyone else is just ok. Plus I used word great not good. Non of these players Raymond, Hansen, White, Grabner, Ellington wowed anyone..

Maybe, not but that means more $.

When was the last time VAN signed top UFA. Sign one and then we will talk about how it is to give the best deal out of 4-6 teams.

I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "how it is to give. . . blah, blah, blah". Last major UFA would be Willie Mitchell, who would be the #2 defenceman on your team and your #1 shut-down guy.

Willie Mitchell would be on our 2nd pairing, genius.

Personally, I'd love to have Raymond and/or Grabner in our organization.

Well if you would not move anyone then they are just ok. Does not mean they won't get better.

Lupul is going to be the most attractive forward. Upshall isn't consistent and isn't going to fetch anyone of any significance. No one wants Knuble. Please. Gagne is too much of a health question mark.

Lupul is a nice asset, and Philly fans have to remember - YOU HAVE TO GIVE TO GET. Lupul may only bring a middle of the road DMan w/upside. Look around the league, there is a HIGH PERCENTAGE of teams in the league that are in search of DMEN.

Browsing these boards over the past few weeks it's crazy some of the proposals being put out there by some Flyers fans, trying to give as little as possible to get young, stud, DMen. Come on guys.

Why don't the Flyers just go out and sign a defenseman, such as Stuart, or Orpik or Kalinen....etc.

You said 'major', doofus.

This is a silly argument that has somehow derived from your silly post. You're sounding the death-knell on a Canucks organization that is actually very healthy in terms of both prospects and current players. They've just shed some problematic contracts, have cap space to burn, and have a team that is a couple of scorers away from being a contender, by most accounts.

You got pissy and overreacted when people here thought that overpaying for your players was a bad idea.
