Pratt and Taylor are making the case that if Dick Duff is in the HHOF, Linden should be. They have a point, but Trevor is not HOF quality in my opinion.

Agreed. Sadly, his prime was just too short. He will, however, receive and deserve many other honours.
I'd retire Linden's number...despite not being a fan.
and there is no way in hell he is a hall of famer.. pratt and taylor are being really stupid.. the kissing up to Linden in this town is Crosby levels on TSN/NBC/CBC
roughest 2 weeks of my life as a Canuck fan. We lose 2 players to our team forever. Bourdon, and the Linden retiring. Been following him since 91, he was so cool because he was our Captain, at the time, I thought only the best players on the team can wear the C, so he was so cool, good luck Trevor. Forever a Canuck indeed.
Technically, it's been retired for a while. During his years away from the club from 1998 to 2001, nobody wore No. 16. I think it'll be retired at some point in the season, hopefully against Calgary (he played his best against the Flames). If they decide to retire Bourdon's 28 in 08-09, and wait to retire Linden's the following year, that's okay. Nobody will be allowed to wear No. 16. (For his own safety).
As for the Linden/Duff comparison, here's why it doesn't work. Six Cups for Dick Duff, none for Linden. If guys will get into the HHOF thanks to Duff, it will be Esa Tikkanen and Claude Lemieux - big-game forwards with multiple Cup rings. (Although Lemieux was nowhere near the defensive player that Duff was).
I said a lot of things about Linden when he announced his retirement. I'll have only one hockey hero. That's Trevor Linden. I'll never forget him. I still have my "I Vote Trevor Linden for NHL Rookie of the Year" button from 1988-89 in my parents basement back in B.C. For the first time in 20 years, someone besides Linden (Marty Gelinas) will be my favourite player.
Wowzers... it had to happen sooner or later but it's still going to be a tough day tomorrow. The greatest Canuck leaving on his own terms after a career to be remembered... but without a cup. Sad... but a day to celebrate #16 for sure.
We'll miss you Trev, as many have stated already sad that he couldn't win a cup here as a player but hopefully he will remain with the organization for a long time to come.
Being at his final game was really special, thanks for all the memories.
I wished we traded him to Detroit so he would have retired with a championship. I mean if they had space for McCarty to play regular minutes, Trev could have done better.
There is a reason his is the only jersey I own. He has been the face of the franchise for me since he got here.
Not a hall of famer but one of my favorite players of all time and easily one of the greatest Canucks.
The teams chances of winning in the playoffs just took a major hit. He was one of the few players left on our team that understood how to elevate his game in the post season.
Yep, it's been a dark time here... and the weather has been rather fitting, too...
I can't wait for the offseason and free agency; much as I hope Gillis doesn't make a rash, stupid signing, I think we need one BIG acquisition to get people fired up about the Canucks again, because it doesn't get much more disappointing than the last two months have been....
