And you can guarantee that #16 will be hanging from the rafters at GM Place before the season is out. As great an honour the HoF is, you'd kinda think that Trevor would appreciate the former more anyhow.

I'm almost wishing the team crashes and burns next season so AV and Gillis gets booted out.

I never said I agreed with it, but local media/posters/maggie the monkey have been throwing out that idea.

Yeah, no doubt. That much was clear coming out of the lockout.

Get over yourselves. Jeez. Yes Linden meant a lot to this team and yes, he does deserve to get his number retired but trashing AV and Gillis is just stupid. AV didn't want him back from the start b/c linden shouldn't have been back...he should have retired last year. In fact...they had several meetings last off-season where AV told linden what his plan was and that he would be in the press box a lot. Linden accepted that and if it is true that he purposely left AV out of his thank yous, then it is a bit classless on his part.

What does Linden have to thank AV and Gillis for? Gillis just became the GM and AV was only his coach for 2 seasons.

I laughed when he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "it was like the fans were telling me 'thanks for all you've done but it's time to move on.'"

It's so true. I'm a huge fan, but I wish he had called it a career after his nice playoff performance the season before last. It was hard to watch a player who was such a key part of those 90s Canucks teams turn into a aging bit player.

I hope that #16 is hanging from the rafters on opening night.

I also hope that the fans get to give Nazzy a nice send-off at some point as well, I'm assuming he won't be back as a Canuck, so hopefully he visits GM Place with another team or, if he retires, they have a day to honor him.

Sad day ... the Canucks had their training camp in Parksville in 1988 so I was at Linden's first-ever scrimmage as a Canuck. A long time from then to now. #16 will deservedly be retired and hopefully his retirement is as successful as his playing career.

Ah yes, the Vicky Pollard theory.

Just read an interesting fact today. Linden retires exactly 20 years to the day from when he was drafted into the league.

Its really sad he had to play out his career in for a crappy organization like Vancouver. Unbelievable how we couldnt even make the playoffs one last time for him. We failed him so many times. Also sad Team Canada couldnt win gold in 98. At least he has something of extremely high importance for hockey. He really has nothing, but just great memories and the 94 run. At least he won the memorial cup.

Good luck Trevor. Forever a Canuck.
