lol, this kind of stuff is being more and more common on this forum. Next we'll see threads like "we should have signed that RFA"... even if that would have jeopardized 23213 of our first round picks.
Talbot was drafted in the 8th round by the Penguins.
In the regular season he was 3rd in scoring, with 98 points.
He was captain of Gatineau, who won the QMJHL Championship.
Only the second player, Guy Lafleur being the first, to have been the leading scoring in the Q playoffs two years in a row.
The pens had to sign him by I think the first of June or else he would have re-entered the draft.
His stock has definetly risen since being drafted. He can do alot of things well. The only question is can he score at the NHL level. If not, he'll still be an excellent third liner.
Talbot had to be signed by the Penguins management by June 1st or else he would have re-entered the draft if I'm not mistaken. My question is: does that mean Gainey will have to sign Lambert in the upcoming week, since he too is a 2002 draft pick?

Yes. Dan posted a thread about that earlier this week.
I was really hoping Pens wouldn't sign Talbot. I absolutely love this guy.

Yes Gainey has 5 days to sign Lambert and Deveaux or they reenter the draft. Same with all '02 drafted unsiged CHL prospects. So far only 2 players that I know of have been signed as it usually starts picking up around now and each day a few more should be signed.
No, it's okay. Talbot was my son's favorite junior player. Unfortunately for the Habs, the Pens have him. Unless Bob makes a pitch for him. This St-Bruno kid is a solid hockey player. A 2 way player. Reminds A LOT of Guy Carbonneau. Played the last 2 games of the Memorial Cup tourney with a torn groin. Tells you a lot about his character.

He would of went into this years draft if pens didn't sign him... then we could have got him
