I actually believe you. I was telling my dad yesterday that he might have gotten the royal treatment in barbados so melnyk could try and convince him to take the assistant coaching role.

i thought it would be for hartley, but you know more than i do.

and prefix is one word. You just read it while posting this thread. Seriously.

Two best coaches in the CHL combining in Ottawa in what will be a pretty young team. Looks solid.

I would have prefered someone who has won something (I want to get Alfie his cup)

But if we are rebuilding this is the way to go.

If true, this is a really good hire for the Senators.

An older coach doesn't necessarily mean a team is "going for the Cup", and a younger coach doesn't necessarily mean the team is "rebuilding".

I'm definitely planning to wait-and-see on this one, but, the idea of DeBoer as an assistant coach is pretty incredible. I'd love for that to happen.

But, wait and see.

Anything but Hartley is okay with me. Getting both of these guys would be pretty incredible.

So it's pretty much what Steve Ludzik said on The Spin about 2 weeks ago.

Hartsburg sucked in his last stint in the NHL, maybe he'll be better this time around.

Looks like Murray really wanted to go out of his way to redeem himself after putting in Paddock last year. Considering we're curbing most of our older 3rd and 4th liners and injecting youth into the lineup, it seems like the right choice for the club. I'm not too hot on Hartsburg, but if DeBoer is indeed coming in as an assistant then I'd consider this a very good move.

How many coaches make the jump from Juniors to NHL? I suspect Deboer figured that his lack of NHL coaching experience was too much to overcome in the interview process.

Congrats to Eklund for having the balls to post this here, you're going to take a serious beating to your credibility if you're wrong again.

I don't really like a lot of you're stuff, but good on you if you stick around if right or to explain why, if you're wrong.

As for the actual topic that would be a sweet coaching duo.

DeBoer is not coming to Ottawa to be an assistant. He said that himself

DeBoar flew to Barbados to speak with Melnyk. And we all know money talks.

I likey.

I'm pretty much against everything Hartley, and wanted Hartsburg or Burns. Adding DeBoers as an assistant is just gravy.

We'll finally have people who know what they're doing on the coaching staff, Last year was such a disaster, it made me long for Jacques Martin. I'm expecting a huge improvement to Spezza's game.

just thinking about this, if i've got the chronology right, reports went:

Its Hartsburg!

no, Its Hartley!

wait a second, deBoer is in Barbados, Its DeBoer!

wrong again, its actually Hartsburg.

been a fun two weeks.
