Luongo Wants to Play for Habs

did anyone catch marino on his team 990 'montreal forum' this morning? he got from a very good source that luongo wants out of Vancouver and would very much welcome a trade to either the canadiens or sens.

so the question is, would you deal price to vancouver as part of a package for a 29 year old luongo? tony said 'no'

I don't think I would do it. We would have to add more to the trade, and I believe in Price potential. He was above average last year, and he will only gets better. Luongo would be great though, but with a price tag like he has, I wouldn't be that interested.

That's actually a pretty tough choice. I remember myself saying that Luongo is the only goalie I would trade Price for (and he is one of the only players in the NHL I'd trade Price for along with OV, Crosby, Vinny, etc.)

I'm on the fence.

sorry but Price is THE goalie of the future, i hope he doesn't end up with the Sens but Price already has Luongo potential with 10x the stickhandling abilities, the only positive point would be that we could get the moon for Price if we we're to trade him

He would go to Ottawa, we already have our all-star elite starter goalie. Gainey has worked his ass off to build around Price, I don't think nor would I want Price to go anywhere.

man that is a tough call. theres always that doubt in the back on my mind wondering if Price will be as good as luongo or brodeur one day, so to trade for an already established goalie is a tough call.

I would really not be happy with Luongo in Ottawa. I like him very much in Vancouver.

The way I see it...

Price for 15+ Years > Luongo for 8-10

Also we won't have to pay Price a huge salary for a couple years at least.

Hmmmm. Great goalie but I don't see a deal like that happening. BG would have to back track a lot and deal one of Halak or Price. I'm not sure we could get the best price for either under current circumstances

I'm inclined to think we should build our team in front of goal first. But I don't like the idea of facing him in the division so much either. Toughy!

Salary cap implications aside, I'd be torn on my choice but stick with Price. As awesome as Luongo is, I'm excited to see what Price will be able to do....and the cap situation helps the team for some time longer.
It would suck to watch the Habs play against him 8 times a year.
Spezza for Luongo?

Please tell whoever it is that you know that knows Luongo to tell him that they eat babies in Ottawa. Seeing as he's got a newborn, it might scare him.

I imagine that will fuel the Spezza for Luongo rumours again. I'd like to see Luongon in Montreal as I believe he is one of the top 3 goalies in the world. But major changes would have to take place in our roster to pull that one off

Was there any reason given as to why he wanted out of Vancouver? It was a crappy season last year, but the season before went quite well.

Either way, I wouldn't want to part with Luongo for Price. I know what Luongo can do, and I'll be quite happy if he plays the rest of his career in Vancouver.

Luongo would then demand a trade out of Montreal, since he always finds something to ***** about wherever he ends up. Roberto "I'll retire if there are bigger nets and I'll hold out if I don't get $7M/season" Luongo can stay in Vancouver.

While I don't know if he wants to be traded this season to Montreal, I can tell for sure that he would like to play in Montreal at some point. I know this for a fact because I asked him myself a little over a year ago.

That being said, I would prefer to keep Price and the other assets that might be needed to get him.

If it was for one season, sure, Luongo.

But we're talking long term potential and I gotta go with Price.
