I see the Sens buying him out and then him pretty much being forced to accept a contract from an AHL team getting the usual AHL salary. If he can bounce back and play lights-out in the AHL, then who knows.

in professional sports certain teams/managements will always take a chance on a player with skill even if they have some issues. I mean look at Pacman Jones, that guy is 10times worse then Emery and the Cowboys went out and traded for him. I can almost gurantee some team will take a chance on him and It wouldnt suprise me if it pays off in the end.

Certainly he'll be bought out, especially since it only costs 1/3 of the remaining contract to do it. $2.25M over 4 years for a cap hit of just 562.5K a year.

Who would want him though? Maybe Washington if they cannot keep Huet? Maybe Tampa, who will be buying their own guy (Denis) out this summer? Maybe L.A. who will be waving bye-bye to Cloutier.

Either way I think he's looking at a one year $1.5-2M max deal from someone.

As living witnesses to Dan Cloutiers NHL career, you guys sure are finding a way to give a bleak, bleak outlook for Ray Emery.

He will get another shot in the NHL. absolutely no question. Maybe as a #2, or a 1B, but he will most certainly get another shot. Hes shown flashes of brilliance and proven to be a solid tender for long stretches AND has cup finals experience. Plus he will come almost at no cost to wahtever club takes the risk, and those are the types of moves GMs can make with little to no risk - he either works out and you look like a genius or its a free assest you gave a chance too who didnt work out. Chances are anyteam picking him up will be in the process of putting together a potential playoff squad so expectations wont be incredibly high either and there will most certainly be someone pushing emery if he falters.

Vokoun and Anderson.

As far as Tampa goes, there's Smith and Ramo. L.A. would be a good place, allowing them to develop Bernier at a reasonable rate and not having to rush him.

Or LA won't go near him with a 20 foot pole.

Lombardi's talked about making the team even younger next season and why would a young team want to bring in someone who is rumored to be a locker room distraction and who has attitude problems?

Unless something dramatically changes over the next few weeks, I think most Kings fans are expecting another year outside the playoffs as the team rebuilds, which means Labarbera and Ersberg will be just fine for next season until Bernier is ready.

The problem is that players like this while having some talent and being cheap are dangerous, even as a 2 or 1B. If you like the chemistry on your team and you have some young guys you want to keep on the straight why take the chance on a knob like Emery? You're right he'll be given another shot but unless he has a major epiphany he'll be a risk no matter how cheap or how he fits in the depth chart.

Too bad Cloutier is getting up there in age - would've been an interesting match between these goalies at center ice.

Thats why i brought up the Blues
