Streit, Rolston or Rozival?

All 3 would help our PP.

Streit to me is worth less of the 3, as he is not as effective 5 on 5 and on PK...about 10 mil over 3 years max. Somebody might offer him 12 over 3.

Rolston would be a great fit, veteran with cup experience, good skater and good on the point, excellent on PK. Great 3rd liner on a contender. 7.5-8 mil over 2 years. He may or may not want to move from Minny.

Rozival fits as a great #4 d-man, I might give him 3-4 years as he is very tradeable if you need cap room...4 years front loaded at 17-18 mil...but I think somebody will give him 5 years at 21-23 mil.

I would love Rolston as a third line winger with Koivu and Latendresse and on the point on our PP.... Would be an upgrade over streit.

Rozival would be my plan B here....

Streit C

Sorry... forgot to mention that.

Andrei - Pleks - Kovalev
Higgins - Sundin - Sergei
Lats - Koivu - Rolston

Streit should not be resigned. The Habs thus would need another winger and Rolston would look good. However, he is likley to stay in Minnesota. The best bet would be someone like Brunette.

i think if nothing goes through, we need to sign streit, just because i dont think we can replace him on our PP. But if any one of these other guys is available, then they should def be signed before streit.

rather than sign streit i rather take a shot at getting someone like pavel tank on the roster comes cheaper and has great potential....plus even though he had his moments i wouldn't mind breezer back for a cheap mentoring role...he is decent on pp

Thats exactly what I feel.... Streits slapper on the PP is a huge part of why it works... teams have to respect him high and cant just focus on the two russians who surround him.... Sergei while he has great passing skills, does not have the slapshot to force teams to respect him...

Rolston could be a great replacement as he has a very good slapshot from the point too.... So does Rozival.....

but I don't see an internal option to replace Streit.... Subban/Weber are not near ready for that role; and I doubt Korneev comes over this summer.

So no matter what, we have to think about that spot on the PP.... I'd like to replace the spot with someone who brings us more 5 on 5 than Streit does though.

Not sure if rolston will be available as the Wild push to sign him before July 1st. Would be an interesting acquisition for sure. I would also like to retain Streit for the right price.

Roszival would actually be good because if im not mistake (and i may be, but im going on what i see in NHL 08 haha) he shoots right, and that would allow us to have markov and roszival both in one timer positions on the point.

Well I would re-sign Streit, but not for anymore than $2million a year. He isn't good enough 5 on 5 and on the PK to pay him anymore than that.

I would love to have Rolston, but he will be returning to Minnesota. And Rozival would be a nice addition to our defence, but we could likely do without him with O'Byrne and Valentenko coming up.

I would like to see the Habs sign some big forwards to add some size and grit to the lineup. We'll have a hole to fill by Ryder leaving and a hole at center with Smolinski leaving too. Add a big gritty centerman and a decent sized, goal scoring winger and we'll be just fine.

It sounds like Rolston is basically sold on re-signing in Minnesota.

I also expect Roszival to be a bit out of our price/term range on D. He's probably the kind of guy who can parlay free agency into a 4- or 5-year crazy deal in a Kubina-esque way. I don't think we can have 4 guys on that kind of deal at the same time on our blueline.

And Streit... well for $2-2.5M I guess he has his uses and versatility, but for his own sake I'd almost like to see him cash in big time instead... wherever that may be, not in Montreal, alas.
