McDonagh & Kristo invited to USA U-20 camp

Not a surprise since he was invited to last summers camp, but remember that USA holds only 1 camp, unlike Canada that holds a summer and winter camp.

Lots of '08's were invited as well. Ness, Gardiner, Bogosian, Carlson, Comrie, Warsofsky, Jimmy Hayes, Wahl, Wilson, McRae, Long, Kristo, and Drew LeBlanc.

I've got a feeling Jokinen might be the flavor of the week.

H migth end up being good, but I think we might be getting too excited with this kid. To me, the same applys to Gardiner.

Funny though, when I heard abotu them, I thought they could be great second round picks. Maybe kinda sleepers. I still believe they would be good 2nd rounders, but as first rounders, I feel a team might be deceived..

Everyone is raving about Jokinen and I was intrigued. Until I saw a pic of his skinny self, around 165 lbs. I don't really care for him anymore.

Weight is no issue. Timmins has shown this to be true before.

We should try to get Matt Carle from San Jose, like that we'll have Matt Carle, Mathieu Carle, Ryan McDonagh and Ryan McDonough. I can already imagine Pierre Houde calling the games...

Just imagine Bob Cole trying to call the games, nevermind Houde...

Sergei Kostitsyn passes to Andrei Kostitsyn, to Matt Carle, over to Mathieu Carle back to Andrei Kostopoulus... SCORES!!!!!

He's 18, he'll fill out. He has the frame to do it. He'll be paired with nutritionalists, personal trainers and work-out regimes. He will bulk up and he will be a great player.

Why are people putting such emphasis on weight for kids who have not yet grown fully yet?

Exactly plenty of 18 year olds need to fill out...

Good luck to Kristo at the USA camp in August. I have no clue what his chances are, but glad to see him get an invite after wearing the C for the U-18 team.

I think Kristo has a very good chance to make the team. He's got a lot of intangibles and the two-way game that will make him a valuable player on the bottom two lines.

Kind of like Bill Sweatt. I wonder if those two compare at all? Maybe Sweatt is faster but Kristo has more offensive upside?
