dunno, i never really had hope he would come, i mean what could sather offer him? i don't think he would have really challenged for a spot here next year, so boston seems to be a more reasonable choice (since money couldn't really be a factor)

"And ultimately it came down to a few things for Blake, but mostly that he was comfortable with where the Bruins were headed as an organization — how this year they brought along kids like David Krejci, Milan Lucic, and Mark Stuart. They’ve done a good job of developing kids, and he wants to continue along that line.’’
Sounds like he doesn't like the way the Rangers take their time with the prospects

You just made a mighty big jump between what was said and what you want to think was said. We don't even know that the Rangers made him an offer; reading "doesn't like the way the Rangers do anything" out of that quote is a stretch. Not to mention that Krejci and Stuart both spent the better part of 2 seasons in the AHL -- hardly indicative of some sort of fast lane to the NHL.

You know it is possible he just liked Boston more.

It's just like any other job search, one place doesn't have to be horrible for you not to pick it. It can simply be a situation where you like another place more.

I'm not broken up about this..it would have been nice to get him, but whatever, I guess he wanted to be teammates with Phil Kessel. I honestly think we have much more pressing needs to start working on.

You know, I was in a Lowe's Home Improvement store for Father's Day shopping recently and saw a generic "household pest" spray in the garden section. On the can were pictures of three animals- an ant, a wasp and a scorpion.

Think about that. A scorpion.

Arizona is one of a few states which are the reason some Americans have the literal spawn of the Devil as household pests. I don't see how, in light of this, you can call Arizona anything other than pure evil.

I don't blame Blake or anyone else for wanting to leave.

Your absolutely right. I read into that. Its June 17th. I'm pleading withdrawl.

It sure would be a selling point though if Boston made him some assurances he'll get to play in the NHL sooner rather than later

If he really chose Boston out of all the teams in the NHL then the guy has got a screw loose

This reaks of his agent, who is also the agent for Gigantor if I am not mistaken, taken some behind the scene action to bring his young client to bean town.

The one thing that is horrid is the fact he will always be looked upon as the 5th pick overall. He may one day be very good but that time will probably be in the distance after a decent amount of developing.

Just my thoughts

Stanislav Chistov was also a 5th round draft pick, and he was drafted over the likes of Mike Komisarek and Mikku Koivu, two players that went 6 and 7 who have enjoyed a ton of success in the NHL. Just cause Wheeler's a 5th overall doesn't mean he'll pan out.

Thanks, it just solidifies the point I was making a few posts earlier.

I feel for the kid but the great one put him in a tough situation to start his career.

Those are my two top choices as well.
