I wonder who they'd be really interested in at 6 or 18... and who or what they'd have to give up...
I'd say Gainey/Timmins is asking for either one. They probably really want Filatov...and maybe they feel Deschamps won't make it past 20.

Btw, Columbus picks at 19.

It seems Montreal will be taking BPA according to tsn.ca

I'm sure he'll make it to 25th, unless some team gets really, really hyped and blindsided by the other prospect, Deschamps will more than likely be there.

Filatov would fit in perfectly, right hand shot and an elite talent.

If he's there at 6, and the BJs are willing to deal the pick, I'd give up a hell of alot for Filatov.

Yeah, but we'd be regressing. I'd love to hear Timmins call his name, but we'd be less skilled and have fallen back into a mini rebuild.

Filatov could step in as our top right wing within a year if Kovalev walks. The guy is an unreal talent in the mold of Malkin.

This is not what we hear...

He's a good leader, good character, with lots of consistency. He's not tall nor big, but he has good hands and a good vision along with good skating.

He doesn't have the vision nor the hands nor the body of Malkin. He might be a better leader and he already speaks english though!

He doesn't have Malkins size and strength, that is true. But talentwise he's that kind of player. I've read that several scouts who have watched plenty of Filatov and Stamkos, consider Filatov the bigger talent.

After reading MacKenzie's roundup, I'd have to say he has some inside info about how scouts view Deschamps(he always does). That '1st round steal' bit has me convinced he won't make it to 25.

Well, I don't see how we can get the 6th pick from the Jackets without making our team worse off for next season.

That said, I strongly feel Filatov is the best forward in the draft, and if we can get a gamebreaker at 6th overall we should try our hardest.

Tedenby, Deschamps, Jokinen, Karlsson any one of these would be a great pick in my book. I honestly hope we don't trade up

Why? It's not like the chances of grabbing a great player with our own pick are good. Deschamps might be there. Karlsson, maybe but he could also be gone. Jokinen, he will most likely be there, but is he really that good? Tedenby? He will be gone. Moving up might give us the chance to draft Filatov, or Boychuk, or a player like this. It's really worth it this year imo.

The price to trade is going to be high and will not help for a few years down the road. I feel Timmins with his talent can find just as good a player at 25, along with keeping all our roster players

Let's say we would not have taken all those d-men in the past years....I would totally say that not at 6 but at 18, Timmins and Co are definately aiming at Gardiner or Carlson. And I would love those 2 picks. But they shouldn't be there both at 25 and Timmins knows it.

Yup, he does have immense talent, but that's filling one spot. What about all the other assets we give up? We might be able to fill them with FA/rookies, so it could work, but he more than likely won't be around at the 6th

Which team could potentially move in on him that's higher than us?

The price is too high on hfboards. In real life, it's usually not that bad.

If they are realy high on Filatov they can possibly get Columbus to bite sending their '08 1st and '09 1st. I wouldn't be a big fan of the move, but that's a way to do it without making this team worse today.

The only way I would move up is if it could be done with a package like Fischer and Gorges to move up...not willing to give up big chunk of present
