After being their MVP during the playoffs, I really doubt it. He's their heart and soul, much like Doan in PHX.

I tend to think that BG is rather conservative and Havlat is too iffy given his recent injury history plus his $6M salary for the coming year.

Don't Les Glorieux need a centre?

Is scoring goals really an issue?

Didn't Les Habs have the most goals scored in the NHL last season. Ans: Oui/Yes.

Les Canadiens need to improve on their D in order to get their GA down.

Why? He is a UFA, why trade for a UFA when you can wait until July 1 and deal directly with the player/player's agent.

However, there is the scenario where the Ducks sign Teemu and then trade him to the Habs, because the Habs can't get him dealing directly with him and his agent due to the fact that with his freedom to pick and choose, he won't pick Les Habs. Got to desparately want a player to go this route.

Whoever it is Bob might be looking for it is NOT Havlat. Chicago were ready to give him away for free and couldn't get a taker, just to get out from under his contract.

The fact is he's got chronic shoulder problems and will almost certainly never be 100% again for any length of time. Loved the guy but he's done as a player to count on in the NHL.

Columbus or LA would be great partners to move up in the draft

lets try something like

Zherdev + #6
or
Camaleri + #28

Not going to happen though

Let the speculation begin as to who the forward is and the old Marleau to Montreal rumour to start up again.

If there is any truth to this rumor I sure hope the player that is being pursued is not Patrick Marleau. He is rotten and he would NOT improve the Habs roster one bit.

We need an impact player. Someone who will play a lot of minutes, put up a lot of points and play with a lot of heart and Marleau doesn't fit any of those things.

Leave him in San Jose where he can coast through the motions and not have to worry about the media jumping on his back.

True, plus of all the names that have been mentioned. I think he would be the easiest/cheapest to obtain.

Has underrated defensive skills as well.

Big risk so might not cost as much as some other potential trade targets.

I think Tanguay is the most likely option, but I would think Marleau, Cheechoo and Gaborik would be other ones. I certainly wouldn't like the habs to sit on their "best scoring team in the league" title!!

Naslund???

If we ARE pursuing a player from the West....I hope its Naslund instead of Marleau.

Naslund isn't as good as he used to be, but he is still better than Marleau and a new change of scenery might energize him and he may put up 75 points next year.

LOL Schremp. Is every hockey game going to an automatic shootout? Because that's the only use I see for him.

Didn't I read somewhere that Tanguay did NOT want to come to Montreal?

and the Oilers (or at least their fans) appear to be incredibly high on him.

Really? Because to me they seem like they don't care too much since they have Gagner and Cogliano. Schremp is a PP specialist with fancy shootout moves, nothing more.

Havlat would be a good move if you ask me. As it stands, we don't NEED to make any big moves, we were 1st in the East last year, so it's not as if we're struggling. Havlat is a low risk/high reward option for next season. If it doesn't work out (ie he spends half the year on IR), then we say bye bye and dream of Vinny Lecavs for the next year.

It also fit the mentality of "soft , soft and more soft".....

We need some grit and character in our top 6 , not another speedy and flashy skilled forward who is also one of the most injury prone player in the league. I mean Havlat is good but he's not exactly what the doctor ordered.

A guy like Keith Tkachuk is the type of player we need.
