I like the guy, but the price will be too high.

The Rangers need a guy who can compliment Gomez for that type of $$$, and this isn't the player IMO.

If he came cheap I'd love to have him with Dubinsky, but let's not kid ourselves... hes a FA.

I agree 100%. Malone to me, while the size and grit would be great, reminds me of Kevin Stevens (shivver). Great with Mario, no where near the same everywhere else and rightfully so. Malone has put up 'ok' (not stellar) points with some of the best in crosby and Malkin. So if he is playing with people of lesser ability, his production will drop significantly.

Buyer beware with Malone.

My gut says Columbus will win the Malone sweepstakes. It's closer to his family in Pittsburgh and the Jackets have enough Cap room to offer him a high salary.

Once again another pass. Not worth the money.

I thought it had everything to do with what you posted but if I'm wrong about that, what is your opinion of the Rangers giving Malone 5 million?

I don't really have an opinion on it. I never mentioned anything about money.

My point is I don't think the argument that his numbers are inflated because he played with Crosby and Co holds all that much water.

Like everyone else, I am wary of the cost/reward, but I have to say that he also impressed me in the POs.

True he was 27-24-51 in 77 games during the regular season - but in the POs he was 6-10-16 in 20 games. That translates to roughly 25-42-67 over 82 games. Worth considering.

I would love to have Malone on our team but not at the price he'll be asking. He's the type of player that would become a fan favorite here- he shows a lot of heart, sticks up for teammates, and does a lot of dirty work.

It's funny that people want us to sign Avery for $3.5MM to $4MM, but a guy who is as, or even more, talented than Avery is no go @ $4.5MM to $5MM?
