Been a Rangers fan for almost 50 years and believe that Original Six teams have a special responsibility to history and tradition.
BUT.....I love the blue Liberty jersey. I love how it shouts "New York," and love the NYR lettering. I missed them last year and hope they return soon.

Where's the proof on that? Not being snippy, but I'd really like to know.

At the time, it was reported on NHL.com, NYRangers.com and several sports business sites. It was not a state secret.

as a devil fan(not trolling just going through hockey withdrawal), the white liberty jersey was real sharp and to be honest one of the few 3rds that actually looked good. I say this as a collector, it is one of my favorites, I did not like the blue thirds mainly because of the helmet that went with it, I also hate it when teams abondon their color scheme to make 3rds(i think it was one thing that seperated us from all other sports in that we didnt have 15 different colors. While I like the old school pens powder blue and it is part of their history but it just seems silly to me as when the mets wore the green jersey in the 80's).

i agree with most that the rangers and other teams of the orginal 6 shouldnt really stray from tradition but your thirds werent a stretch from the orginal unlike the Bruins Poo Bear's...but nothing is worse than teams like the Nucks and Pens who seem to change their sweaters every couple of years, where is their sense of tradition and even pride for that matter??

I believe it just on the fact alone that every rapper has a video where they rocked that jersey, not to mention in the late 90's i travelled the country and it was everywhere, it kind of made me proud as new yorker to see it in almost every arena I went to even when two western teams were playing.

i agree with this, i couldn't understand why they scrapped it. i have an authentic fleury (made by starter, my fav. authentic jerseys) and i still rock that thing because it looks so good.

Thank you. I have no issues with wearing whites a few times a year at MSG, but we've always been the Broadway Blueshirts. That's who we are. I know the '70's, '80's, and 90's where whiteouts...... not the point.

Here's what I would like. Could be ugly, but I'd like it.

Dark Red (very contrasting to our normal colour) with the NYR letters (same design from the Liberty Jersey, just without the stupid liberty head) in larger font

Same lace up v-neck colllar

The Letters on the Logo would be in their natural blue with white and silver lining

Names on the back would also be done in the same font as the logo same blue with white and silver lining.

I would eliminate the shoulder and elbow stripes and have more of a solid jersey as opposed to being broken up in to sections.

Juts some thoughts.

Honestly I liked the White liberty ALOT. I would much prefer that over the blue liberty one.
