i know, everybody is saying that filatov is better, but he didnt even play in the RSL. cherry didnt just play in the RSL, he was on the 2nd line on a playoff team, while scoring better than the best player in the world at the same age

i just wanted to see how everybody felt about it, and if filatov is being really overrated

I forgot where I saw it, but there's definitely talk that Filatov is overrated. I think his willingness to come to NA has helped his stock sky-rocket.

The real difference? Cherepanov has already been drafted. Hence more people are hyping up Filatov as marketing for this years draft.

I think they'll both be great players, but I think Cherepanov has the edge now. He's been playing in the RSL against adults for 2 years and has put up stellar numbers.

Filatov is more exciting to watch, and looks more offensively explosive, and defensively aware, but youd really need to see how their games translate to the NHL before making a judgement call.

id love to see jagr sign a 3 year deal, i know it might be long but jagr was good with dubinsky and since cherepanov is a winger, he can only help to learn from jagr.

Yes, Filatov looks more flashy and has everyone drawing comparisons to Kovalchuk or something, but it's not always the flashiest players who end up being the best players.

I think it's really hard to tell who will be better at this point. I'm happy with Cherepanov, though

the main thing is that only two teams in the nhl will have one of these guys and the rangers are lucky enough to be one of them

Filatov is getting alot of great press leading up to the draft, but the 2 consistent yrs in the rsl by cherry is nice too. I'd personally like both so we can reunite cherry-anisimov-filatov
Make the deal sather...

Prucha-Tyutin-Bourret -1st 08, 3rd 08, 1st 09

Kings 1st and 2nd 08

Judging by the 3 games ive seen them play, Filatov.

Expect him to be an Islander.

You say that, but there's no way in hell Lombardi would ever take it.

With his 2nd over pick, Lombardi is basically guaranteed an NHL impact player, whether he takes Filatov or one of the top 2 d-men. None of Prucha, Tyutin or Bourret are that or have any potential to become that. A 20th pick has a low likelihood of becoming one, and who knows what you'll get next year, but a top 10 pick isn't very likely, so the chances of an impact player are slim. Not to mention the fact that Prucha and Tyutin are two of the most common names Ranger fans try to dump in any trade proposal and Bourret now has a history of head injuries to go along with the fact he's a headcase.

I don't think many (myself included) is qualified to answer this question...

How many people that post on this board have seen over 10 Russian Junior league games?

Tyutin is a good dman who is young and signed to a very affordable contract. Lombardi would get an extra pick next year in what is supposed to be an even better draft.

he already as 13 picks this year so he could always make another trade to move up w/ our old pick as well. Prucha is still very serviceable and is young. he could become a good player w/ Frolov or Kopitar. Bourret has tons of skill but just needs to put it together next year.

If I was Lombardi I would take it and run. That package has the potential to become a monster deal.

On the Rangers hand, you weakend our d-core and deprive us of a good pick next year in what is supposed to be an uber draft. The deal sucks for the Rangers end.

Again, the fact that we are including Prucha in every deal means that nobody here wants him and that means that nobody wants him anywhere.

Bourret is now a second-rate prospect also.

Tuts is a nice 3-4 dman, but nothing special.

So why would the Kings do this?

Would u do this if you were a Kings GM?

Not if you use the 2nd overall to pick Doughty or Bogosian.

(Sorry, should have made that clear. I'd give up a lot for the 2nd overall pick, but not for Filatov. I forgot what thread we were in. )

its ok. It's still alot for even Doughty or Bogosian. the 09 draft pick is the killer. That draft is supposedly stocked w/ offensive firepower...

Honestly, I'd rather take the elite defenseman this year than take a shot at maybe sucking enough to get a good enough pick to grab an elite forward next year.
