Only thing NYI has that I would want is the 5th or Okposo. Okposo won't be moved so hopefully he's part of a bigger deal involving the 5th overall.

Also, Eklund said Sundin waived his NMC at the deadline and it obviously wasn't true.

Being an Isles fan, It better include a young vet or a good prospect.

As I see it:

McCabe
7th Overall
*Another Asset* (I dont want a secound rd pick either)

for

5th overall pick

If so, I wouldn't blame him. If not, I guess we're stuck with him.

I don't understand these proposals. McCabe would be the best player (fwd or def) on your team by a mile and probably your captain as well. Yet, Toronto is the one overpaying in the deal.

I can tell you right now, that Fletcher has our top 4 prospects labeled as "untouchables." Yes, they are touchable within the right deals, or overpayments, but not in that kind of situation.

And if they are in fact in a "rebuilding era" then they should absolutely be untouchable, but from an Isles POV, Id pass no reason to move down in the draft by two spots and take on a big cap hit. Much rather Filatov or a top 4 Dman than McCabe...

What I find rather funny and interesting is that Brian Burke is most likely going to be the Leafs next GM and just the other day said he wouldnt even draft Filatov with his own first rounder this draft.

If he is that great, they would keep him.

Yes, but it wouldn't make sense for the Leafs trading McCAbe, 7th overall pick, and a bluechip prospect for the 5th overall pick. McCabe doesn't have negative value, as some would think (I am looking at that Oilers fan), and would easily be a top pairing defenseman on the Islanders.

Thus, the asset your looking at probably is a prospect such as Tyler Ruegsegger, who RAkshani's teammate in Denver Pioneers.

I only want McCabe to go to the Isles if it means us getting Filatov (but not with us giving away a prospect or young guy). McCabe is actually pretty darn good, but it's his STUPID contract that makes all Leafs fans get p***ed off by him.

He's just going to draft Beach with the Ducks and then trade Filatov for him once he join the Leafs.

Burke is a genius

5.7 cap hit is cheap when you compare him to other d-men of his calabur.

Of course you would, but there is not a chance in hell of that happening without Okposo coming back.

Not as cheap as an entry level deal with one of the big 4 D-men, whom all have franchise Dmen written all over them...

Especially when the Islanders would have to overpay anyone to play there. I think if a trade goes down (betting against it) NYI fans on this board will be pretty disappointed.
