House? I thought the Lupus thing was from Seinfeld when George had that blemish on his face.

There is always someone suggesting it's lupus in House, always.

For those who missed it, there are some important points:

Gainey:

"we have good young players, we have a lot of money, we are in good position"

"we need 1 or 2 players"

"we have to look short term instead of long term right now"

"We have plans, for example, Chipchura, who wants to play full-time with us"

"Smoke can stay with us, depending on what happens tomorrow"

"We have good assets to trade this week-end, prices were higher in February"

"right now, we don't plan on trading the rights for an UFA"

"Carbo will probably get a new contract soon"

Timmins

"we are interested in 3 or 4 Quebecois in the draft"

Ya it seems like somethings contradict eachother. If chips wants full time, wouldn't he be taking smoke's spot? Also, thinking short term, I'm thinking that means a Sundin, or some other older player signed to a shorter contract, and aggressively trading away SOME future assets for short term gain.

I'd rather have Grabovski center the 3rd line and give us 3 scoring lines. Chipchura should center the 4th line and Lapierre should move to the wing where he is a lot better than he is center.

I prefer Laps on the wing as well (In all honestly I prefer Laps in the AHL - not my type of player). As for Grabovski...meh, if the kid re-signs and comes into training camp with triple the lower body strength it might work...I just don't see a place for him on the Habs.

Now that I think about it, If we could get Gaborik, I would much prefer Gaborik over Hossa.

Gainey said that:

- He isnt interesting in dealing for the rights to pending UFA

- He's looking to add two solid players: One of them he would trade kids and picks for, the other he would sign on the free agent market.

- What happens at the draft will be key to what happens with our UFAs and RFAs.

- The asking prize is lower right now than in February for impact players.

- We're highly interested in 3 or 4 Quebecois.

- Carbo and the rest of the coaching staff should sign contract extensions soon.

No mention of the progress with Kostitsyn's contract?

in french, he said that was one of his priorities, and that the amount of $$$ he'll spend on UFA will depend a lot on how much $$$ Kosty will get.

Looks like Chipchura is part of an offer to get something... sounds clear in my mind. If not, why would he say those two things?... especially why is he stating that Smolinski could stay with us depending on what happens tomorrow?

Sounds interesting... I can't wait for tomorrow... as soon as 9am... the frenzy and the crazyness will start.

My guess : Chipchura is being dangled as part of a deal with San Jose for the likes of Marleau.

He said they were having solid negotiations with Kostitsyn. That he and Lapierre were priorities when the offseason started.

The way he said solid realy sounded like he meant it was almost a done deal.
