i didnt watch a lot of kings games. who did, they suck like us..... but i know browns a guy with some upside. frolov is a nice player. but they are not offereing a guy like malkin for malkin. i think we have a leg to stand on. throw in 3 firsts a second and a third. drown them in draft picks and prospects as far as im concerened

now i just have to talk them into it

I'd trade Zherdev, Brassard, 6th, 19th, and 2009 1st for him

One report out of Ottawa had 2008 Hart Trophy candidate Evgeni Malkin on the move from the Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh Penguins, while Jason Spezza's name continues to be mentioned as possible trade bait. The latter claim was quickly disputed by the Senators' chief deal maker.

"You guys make up more stuff than I can ever imagine," Ottawa general manager Bryan Murray told reporters on Thursday. "I heard a rumour last night that Pittsburgh was moving one of their star players. I talked to their manager today to see if I could be included in the discussions and they kind of laughed at me."
We can finally put to this to rest---Malkin isn't moving. Sounds like Spezza isn't either.

If Malkin gets traded for that, Shero needs his head examined.

I know it may be apples & oranges with contracts & other things, but last year, NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick adamantly said at the end of May that "there was no room at the inn" for Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

3 weeks later, Jr was signed to drive for HMS starting this season.

My point is anything's possible. Though trading Evgeni Malkin seems moronic on PIT's part.

Gretzky wasn't signed for under $1M when he was traded though. Pittsburgh has absolutely no reason to move Malkin right now.

i feel like "Malkin BEING traded" and "reasons FOR malkin being traded" are two different arguments...

yes he can be traded but why now?

on a sidenote i wouldnt say no if Pit wanted to move him tho

Yes. Gretzky was traded. But...

Steve Yzerman was never traded.
Mario Lemieux was never traded.
Stan Mikita was never traded.
Maurice and Henri Richard were never traded.

Oh, and if it weren't for a corrupt agent, Bobby Orr would never have moved either. Give me a little more time and I can probably find more.

Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's probable.

Sakic hasn't retired yet. There's still time. But otherwise, yeah.

Haha.

I'm pretty sure the people of Edmonton didn't see it coming, either. Thank goodness the Internet wasn't around then.

The only single player that could be straight up traded for Malkin right now is... Crosby.

I can agree with your point, but I don't think Malkin would ever play here, Howson isn't the kind of guy to pony up the farm system for a Russian.

And Joe Thornton won't be traded from Boston or Brad Richards from Tampa. Give it up folks

Even if we did trade for Malkin and got him, wouldn't we just have him for only next season before we would have to resign the dude next summer for 15 million an hour?

We're talking about Malkin not "a Russian"

What do you mean Howson isn't the "kind of guy?"
