Can't see anyone taking him as it's pretty clear that the Sens will buy him out, or put him re-entry waivers, if he passes through regular waivers.

Kings could be a candidate but I doubt it. They are happy with Ersberg. JLB, and Bernier

In order for that to happen, he actually has to be waived first

A place with heavy hip-hop influence should pick him up. Detroit?

To be placed on re-entry waivers, he has to be assigned to the minors. However, since the season is over he can't be assigned there - thus, he can't be placed on re-entry waivers.

This is a necessary step in order to buy him out. All buyouts require the player to be waived and offered to any team around the league - if no one claims him, then the buyout can proceed. Expect that to happen in the next 48-72 hours.

I'd love to see him in Philly, but i don't think he'd be what we need in the locker room and we still have Nitty.

Ahh, ok, I thought that might be a hang up but wasn't sure.

But yea, just signals that the Sens have given up hope of dealing him and that they will buy him out.

Even if he could be placed on re-entry waivers it would make sense for the Sens to do that. If they buy him out their on the hook for 1/3 of his salary. If he's claimed on re-entry waivers their on the hook for half his salary

I was sure it was 1/3. I'm sure a Sens fan will know the situation and clear it up

I think Sens management knows that noone will take him even at half salary on re-entry waivers. This is purely for a buy-out. He will be in Russia next year or in the NHL for a very low price, around $1M for one season.

I think it would be a lot funnier if they picked him up off waivers though

you'd be laughing...but not.

He'll (Cloutier) be baaaaack though. Why? This guys agent has consistently got him a spot on a roster despite the fact his client sucks, everybody knows he sucks, has known it for like 10 years and he still keeps getting on somebody's roster. That's a damn good agent.

His buyout counts only 1/3, so roughly $500K this year.

I'm not about the actual financials, though, if he gets 2/3rds or 1/3rd of his remaining salary.

1/3 on both counts. The cap hit varies from ~400k to ~600k each year for 4 years. next year's hit would be ~500k
