Post-Draft Interviews with KP & Eberle

For those of you who are information hounds, I talked to Jordan Eberle and Kevin Prendergast right after the first round.

Check it out here:

There are some interesting comments there from Prendergast. For those clamoring for Cammalleri and stating that Sutter "beat out" Lowe yet again, pay careful attention to what is stated: Los Angeles was looking for draft picks.

The Jokinen comments are intriguing (especially his statement that the Oilers likely could have put together a better package) but I have a tough time buying they were all that interested if they didn't force the issue more.

From Prendergast:

The Oilers had 3 players on their master list who they thought would be around at #22, Eberle was the top player on that list...one is still available, the other was picked late in the 1st round.

Bet Carlson was the guy picked late, and Markstrom is the one still available.

I'm guessing the player still on their list is either Markstrom or Robak. I would love to see the Oilers move some assets tomorrow to acquire one of the two.

I'd be totally happy if they managed to nab Markstrom...don't know why, just a gut feeling he'd be worth the 2nd rounder.

Sounds like KP's REALLY hoping Lowe can get them a 2nd/3rd rounder to work with.

I sure hope they can. Markstrom would be great to get.

Also dropping hints that there are still possibilities out there over the next week to ten days.

Yeah Carlson had the look of a Oiler pick and Markstrom is interesting. This reminds me of the draft where we picked Stoll after getting two 2nd's for Hecht - and I would not be surprised if we dealt Stoll for a 2nd and a 3rd tomorrow.

It'd be a wise move IMO. Then we probably hold onto Torres and let Glencross walk.

Trading Stoll for draft picks makes little sense unless it is an early 2nd round pick

Strange that Washington traded up to jump in front of the Oilers for a guy who played 1 game this year.

Makes sense to me LINK

And don't forget Grachev that Robin Brownlee was emphasizing as being in the picture too.
