Dalpe, Deschamps, Trevino, O'Dell, Brittain and Robak in that order.
If Petrov is taken we're going to see 7-10 years of threads asking whether this is the year he comes. Haven't we suffered enough with Koltsov.
As a Canucks fan, I only want to see Russians drafted in the first round ("We'll sign you to a one-way") or the seventh. The caveat is, said picked Russian would have to be a top five prospect.
A second-to-sixth round Russian is much more likely to be playing in Russia within five years than a high first, and I almost consider them wasted picks.
Deschamps would be my first choice, but I would be stunned if he's not snatched up pretty quickly.
My second choice would be Jared Staal. I love this kids size, bloodlines, and potential. He's going to be at least a solid 2nd line RW with the size this team lacks.
Love Wahl's intelligence; Stall, Jenks and Paquette have the size I covet(Jenks and Paquette have a bit more of the mean streak) while Arniel and Dalpe have a bit more of the two-way hockey sense.
So with Wright included there's 13 players on my list - I didn't include any goalies. I just hope the Canucks do what they did today - stay on the board and take the BPA.
Gillis hinted at the fact that he wasn't going to pick any Russians the other day.
Hopefully a couple teams take Markstrom and Sateri before the Canucks pick, meaning a good forward/defenseman will fall to their pick.
And for good reason. There's no guarantee they ever come over here. And if they do come over, there's no guarantee they stay in North America. Spend a year or two apprenticing in Winnipeg, or go back to Russia, and make good money tax-free. Hmmmmm.
A guy like Filatov will come to North America. So will Cherepanov. But the second-tier prospects might not. Unless it's an elite prospect, there's no way I ever want the Canucks to pick a Russian.

Dalpe or Trivino would be great picks here. I'd love to see Deschamps but I'd be shocked if he wasn't one of the first couple of guys taken on Saturday. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we took a Dman though, would really like to see Robak selected if we went that route, but I'm hoping for another forward. I hope that a couple of the goaltenders go early which only makes our chances of landing another quality forward better.
