For the rights to Sundin...

...give the rights to Perezhogin and add any of the following (in order of preference):

Dandenault
A pick (maybe 2nd, moreso a 3rd of 2009)
Grabo
D'ago

I would NOT put Saku nor Pleky on the 3th line.. I think it would be a mistake.. i would try those lines all year long.. and in the playoffs if needed swap could be made.. as i am afraid could disminish the motivation of whoever is on the 3th line..

I'd try:

Tanguay-Sundin-Latendresse
Kost-Saku-Kost
Higgins-Plekanec-Kovalev

I think that way we have 3 balanced lines. I tried to put the kosts toghether, keep the Plek/Kovy duo and reunite Higgy and Plek

Tanguay - Sundin - A. Kostitsyn
Higgins - Koivu - Kovalev
S. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Latendresse

Our team has alot of playmakers and ppl who like to have the puck. So what I tried to do is not group too many of them together. I was going to put S. Kost with Koivu and Kovalev but figured those two need the puck so much the 3rd guy might as well be Lapierre (except in terms of finishing). There is size on each line, someone to go in the corners, playmaking and scoring ability.

Very balanced imo.... look forward to seeing this combination at one point this year

No, we don't...

It's like saying Malkin is a second liner material...

Koivu, let me remind you, was our best forward in the playoffs.

We would have lines 1a, 1b and 1c and a 4th line... just too dangerous for this league!

I would rather see Chip and D'ago. Chip just cant skate well enough. Begin is a fan favorite and can skate with the best, If he is healthy he is an important player and a good citizen. The Habs also need quebecois for marketing purposes.

That's it.

At least for 3 or 4 shifts.

Don't rule out Sundin playing wing, he's a monster there.

Why not keep chemistry where we already have it.

I'd start off with:

A Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kovalev
Tanguay-Sundin-Latendresse
Higgins-Koivu-S Kostitsyn
Begin-Lapierre-Kostop

If thats not working start to experiment.

Sundin is more suited to the wing than Koivu.

Why exactly would the Habs want Koivu to endure the physical punishment of playing wing?

Look at the history of hockey. It's chock full of smallish playmaking centremen and big, scoring wingers.

Latendresse a right winger.. not sure.. also he is not deserving as far as i am concern... now he isnt being serious.. i hate his baseball move.. if he thinks he will get in shape playing baseball.. i am just afraid when latendresse comes to camp we give him the nick name of : Big Latty.

Because we finaly get a big center....It's more important we beef up down the middle then on the wings. You need a big center because centers expend more energy then wingers in the defensive zone. They have to go back deep in the zone.

I'd start with that also...

But, I'd like a line of Lats-Sundin-Kovy someday... they would put some much pressure on the defense it's would be scary!

I'm going to say;

Higgins - Sundin - Streit
Tanguay - Chipchura - Kovalev
Latendresse - Koivu - S. Kost
A. Kost - Plekanec - Lappy

Just playing.. though how would you ever defend against that?

Christopher Higgins - Mats Sundin - Alex Tanguay
Guillaume Latendresse - Saku Koivu - Alex Kovalev
Andrei Kostitsyn - Tomas Plekanec - Sergei Kostitsyn
Maxim Lapierre - Kyle Chipchura - Mark Streit
Tom Kostpoulos, Gregory Stewart

Andrei Markov - Josh Gorges
Roman Hamrlik - Mike Komisarek
Francis Bouillon - Pavel Valentenko
Patrice Brisebois

Carey Price
Jaroslav Halak

CAP HIT: Approximately $55M.

__________

First line-up change;

Latendresse - Sundin - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - Tanguay
A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - S. Kostitsyn
Lapierre - Chipchura - Kosto
Stewart

Markov - Komi
Hammer - Streit
Bouillon - Gorges
Vally, Brisebois

Halak
Price

My PP would be as follows: (There is no unit 1 or 2, just whoever was on the ice last goes on 2nd)

Andrei-Plekanec-Kovalev
Markov-Sergei

Tanguay-Sundin-Koivu
Hamrlik-Gorges

Koivu can play in his favourite spot on the right half boards with Sundin opposite him going for the one-timers. Tanguay either down low or in front of the net.

Unfortunatley Higgins and Lats are out of luck, but there will be injuries every now and then.

I'm really trying to not get my hopes up like every year...But it's becoming increasingly difficult...

The obvious is the Tanguay move looks much better with a Sundin move right behind it.

Why not put Kovy at the point and slide Higgins into his forward spot. I'd be happier with Higgins than Gorges (though he does have some offensive potential).

Tanguay - Sundin - Koivu
Markov - Kovalev

A. Kosty - Pleks - Higgins
Hamrlik - S. Kost

First I dont like breaking up what works.
Ak pleks Kovalev should stay together.
Sundin and Tanguay should work great.
Giving Koivu a bit less time is a good thing he gets tired sometimes.

This article in La Presse brings up a couple of interesting points:
http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20...328/CPSPORTS01

- That the Leafs failed to resign Sundin, aren't trying anymore, and that they do not have the 7-million offer on the table as previously rumored;
- And that it was Sundin himself that mentioned Montreal when Fletched asked him if he wanted to go elsewhere.

Both are very encouraging facts if true.
