Good drafting (finally) from the Canucks this year ... I'm getting more and more confident of Gillis his plan

He sounds a bit like Burrows when he talks. I'd love him to bring that physical nastiness to the Canucks, we could always use more of it!

TSN had him ranked #41...hmm! =p

I'm fine with the pick of Sauve. The Canucks definitely needed a d-man and Sauve has great potential to be a good defender for many years. I was hoping for a more offensively talented player, ala Aaron Ness, but I'm fine with this pick.

I was sort of hoping that they had taken Max Sauve. But Yann Sauve looks like a decent pickup.

I'm a little disappointed that they left Dalpe on the board though.

I don't mind this. If any team has the development system, farm team coaching and NHL coaching to develop raw defensive talent, it's us. It might take 4-5 years for him to crack the squad, but that's pretty good timing with the age and contract statuses of our dmen.

Very happy with both of our picks so far. A lot different feeling than at last years draft.

He sounds a bit like a poor man's Bourdon (RIP).

I was hoping for Dalpe with Ness off the board, but this is still a good pick from what I have read about him.

Argh....Ness goes *one* pick before.

Would've preferred Dalpe, but I guess Sauvé is okay...

Weird...

I figured Ness would go earlier than that. Very surprised.

I'm happy with Sauve though. At least we're drafting decently.

Very, very happy with Sauve....he is that big stay at home d-man (hello Mr. Gill, hello Mr. Chara) that every team wants but takes awhile to develop.

I was hoping with all the extra picks the NYI had we could swing a deal with them to jump into the 3rd or 4th round but to no avail. The guy I want the Canucks to take next is Harri Satteri or RW Dale Hunt.

Very good pick and his game will bode well in the NW division, I would say from this draft by the Canucks, Hodgson and Suave are sure-fire NHLers with the potential to be impact players on the Canucks roster.

This is a great pick. Very pleased. I'd say at this point he's behind Ellington as the top defensive prospect in the system. But, with another good season he could overtake him at this point next year.
