A. Kosty - Pleks - Higgins
Hamrlik - S. Kost
Mine would be as follow:

Sundin-Lats(in front)-Kovy(or Tanguay)...I'd like to keep the Kovy-Markov combo
Markov-Hammer

AKost-Saku-Tanguay(or Kovy)
Komi(RH shot and less likely to commit himself with a forward at the point)-SKost

Too bad for Pleks and Higgins... but these two could take one of Lats or the Kbros place if they don't deliver... but they'll be use a ton on the PK, which would make this team even more lethal

I can't see how Fletcher can get anything of significance from the Habs in the position he appeared to be in (Mats stating that if he comes back to the NHL it would be in Montreal). Fletcher did what he had to get something out of nothing.

How on earth could he have turned that situation into a 1st rounder or top prospect?

I'm not expecting anything more than a throw-in. Tops would be a 2nd/3rd rounder or a Grabo that doesn't fit and p-off management last year.

Gainey can be a generous man, but unless there is other angles to this story we don't know off, it can't be anything of great significance.

Higgins has trouble putting the puck in the ocean. Why on earth would place him on your first line?

- And that it was Sundin himself that mentioned Montreal when Fletched asked him if he wanted to go elsewhere.

Both are very encouraging facts if true.
Agreed. Thats what I read elsewhere too, it was Sundin who said Montreal or retirement. I am very excited about this, like Jacques Demers said (as per habsinsideout) "If the Habs are talking to Sundin, its because it is going to happen".

I can't wait to welcome Mats even if it will be extremely weird to see him and Saku in the same uniform.

wonders if sundin is added to this lineup do you think that cage of sport will reconsider the free chicken wings promotion? I see a lot of birds getting their neck rung due the habs scoring lots of goals on many nights.

Did that article mention Gainey stating they will look at UFAs after July 1st in the last paragraph?

Habs exempt from salary cap?

I think they'll lower the bar to 4 goals... they sell a ton of beer during these nights

To which I would add that Koivu has lost some stamina and speed in the last two seasons. A point that Vlad made a season ago but I wasn't ready to concede yet (for lack of evidence). Moving Koivu to the wing would let him pace himself better over the season and might be more useful in the long run.

He just turned 25.. and over and 82 game schedule, he's scoring almost 27 goals per season.

He hasn't even hit his prime years yet.

Seriously.. he's going to bury even more chances eventually. Higgins will be a 40-goal scorer.

Tanguay - Sundin - Kovalev
S. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - A. Kostitsyn
Higgins - Koivu - Latendresse
Begin - Lapierre - Kostopoulos

I'd prefer using Grabovski and trying to have four lines with some offensive ability since we have some defensively sound players in our top 9, but there's no way that happens.

I doubt so, he scored 22, 23 and now 27. I used to think the same thing. I'll eat my hat with a bucket of mayonnaise if he ever gets close to 40.

Higgins - Koivu - A. Kostitsyn

Kostopoulos as a reserve, with D'Agostini or Stewart as call-ups.

Exactly my tough... put him on the 3rd line, that's what he deserves.

I'd have a little fun with the lines:

Kostitsyn - Sundin - Kostitsyn
Tanguay - Plekanec - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - Latendresse
Begin - Chipchura - Lapierre/Kostopolous

If the Kostitsyn's don't do the trick with Sundin, I'd try a superstar line at the top:

Tanguay - Sundin - Kovalev
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Higgins - Koivu - Latendresse

Now here's an even better question: Powerplay. What do you do? Here's my PP:

PP1
Kostitsyn - Sundin - Kovalev
Markov - Kostitsyn

PP2
Tanguay - Koivu - Higgins
Brisebois - Plekanec

A four forward attack on the PP (which we basically did with Streit) when you got the speed to make up for mistakes is pretty damn good.

If we sign Sundin to a two year deal, I'll give Toronto:

- Mikhail Grabovski
- Mathieu Dandenault
- Alex Perezhogin
- Rights to Mark Streit
- Rights to Bryan Smolinski
- Corey Locke
- P.K. Subban
- Our second hottest National Anthem singer
- Our third hottest celebrity fan (Probably Roch Voisine)

Moving Koivu to the wing means losing him in face off, which is where Plekanec is still ass in and why we still consider keeping Smolinski. Yeah, no.

I see

Higgins - Sundin - Tanguay Higgins and Sundin being feed by Tanguay
Akost - Plec - Kovy One of the best line in the NHL last year
Lats - Koivu - Skost Lats work well with Koivu and Skost will learn a lot from Koivu style, since they are comparable
Bégin - Lapierre - Tomko Pkilling

Chipchura - Grabovsky

Markov - Komi
Hamer - Georges Georges could be our fourth D
OByrn - Bouillon
Brisebois

Where would you put Tanguay then ? It seems Higgins scores more.

I'd switch the 2 brothers around but otherwise...... Then again, I'd like to see how A.Kost plays with Koivu.
