Yeah, we don't have a 7th round pick. We used it on Jan Hlvac.

Interesting selection. This guy is apparently an incredible passer. Here's what Kyle Woodleif had to say about him:

Roman Josi may be the best pure passing D-man in the draft. He makes great outlets and is particularly adept at making the long, lead pass to break the trap up the middle for a breakaway. He's also a smooth skater and very intelligent. One proviso though: he's probably not going to be selected in the first round simply because NHL clubs are leery of taking Swiss players high unless they show a real commitment about wanting to play in the league. Josi's club team in Switzerland has already promised him a spot in their top four next season, so he may not be coming over to North America right away.

If you look at our young defensemen, it bodes well for us having an incredible puck moving backline. Suter has shown flashes back there, as has Koistinen. Hamhuis is above board in that regard. Franson was regarded as one of the best passers in the world coming out of Juniors. Blum is also considerd a top-flight passer and Laakso is a good passer. And Weber is hardly Bob Boughner back there. Oh yeah, there isn't a bad skater in the bunch either.

Don't post that on the NP.com boards. Apparently he is another "smurf", Poile is an "idiot", we drafted another offensive dyanmo who sucks at defense, etc., etc., etc. Oh and the obligatory, "We should have drafted _________ who is 6'5 there!!!! comments..."

That's precisely why I haven't been to that board in over 4 years.

I've never talked to a bigger bunch of blow-hards/ego-maniacs. Even when you agree with them, they attack you with their hyperbole.

We all want this team to get bigger and more physical, but my goodness, they take it to a new level there...

There are some wonderful posters over there, but they are often overpowered by the group vocal about size...

Anyone know how we ended up with NO picks in the third or fourth round?

We traded our third round pick to move up to take Josi. We traded our 4th round pick to SJ for their 7th round pick this year and their 4th rounder next year. We then did the exact same thing with our next 4th round pick with NYR, getting their 7th this year and their 4th next year.

We now have a third round pick from Ottawa, a fourth from SJ, a fourth from NYR, and a fifth from Carolina in addition to our normal draft selections in next years draft.......which is supposed to be mega deep as well.

Any one else get the feeling that Poile thinks this draft is overrated? He, rather quickly I should say, moved up, got the picks he wanted and moved as many picks as he can to next year.

I don't think I ever even registered over at the NP.com boards, let alone posted. Every time I went over to check out discussions there was well, little to no discussion worth reading, and more and more vitriol and crap spewed.

Wouldn't mind seeing a LGP site for more in depth information and news, but I wouldn't post on it. Why?

I like it here, in that it's not just Preds fans posting, but fans of all the other teams and even leagues other then the NHL.

I like being able to go to another team board here and ask some questions, be it relating to the city itself, the team, players, etc.

I've said it before and will say it again: I would like to see more Preds fans posting here. I know there are many here that lurk and don't post, for whatever reason. However especially now that I'm living halfway around the world, most of my information about the team I get from you guys and gals here. If we could get more to come over from the other board, the better IMO.

Hey guys, Sharks fan here. Have you heard what you got from us in exchange for pick 106? No one on the Sharks board can figure out what we paid to draft Sateri.

Thanks.

Taylor Stefishen Drafted in Round 5

Couple scouting reports on our fifth round pick LW Taylor Stefishen

Quote:
NHL Central Scouting's Blair Macdonald

"Has overall good skill set with good puckhandling skills. Is a good skater with good vision but will need to get more involved in all areas of the ice in order for his game to develop at the next level."

Langley Chiefs head coach and GM Harvey Smyl

"Taylor is a player that as soon as we got him we knew he'd be something special. He does a good job for our club at both ends and is someone we use a lot both on the power play and the penalty kill. He has great vision and a knack for the net as well – the other aspect of his game that I think really ads something is his willingness to mix it up and get into the corners and battle."

You traded your 7th rounder this year plus your 4th rounder next season for our 4th rounder this season.

I'm guessing we go defenseman, pest, forward, overager forward with our final four picks (in no order).

EDIT: We only have 3 picks, so 3 of the four
