I am so excited, i like all of the lines ups above. For the first time in my life we could really have a contender team.

Which would be perfect. Pushes for Koivu and Kovalev to get an extension.

Ya I voted for Chip. If we get Sundin, and Koivu stays a centerman then we have 3 bonafied centers: Sundin, Plek, Koivu. Chip will never see the light of day unless he can crack the 4th line.

Which he will. He's our shutdown centerman.

Where would they get this info?

His agent said yesterday he doesn't even know if Mats will come back to play hockey again.

Watch the video The other JP in the news.

It's sportsnet talking to Sundin's agent JP Barry. He talks about how Gainey has talked to JP and Sundin for about an hour on the phone.

Tanguay - Sundin - Kovalev (having Tanguay and Sundin would give all the place of the world for Kovalev to be Kovalev on the right wing)

AKost - Koivu - SKost (both Kostitsyn's are pretty gritty and could complete Koivu's hustling style well)

Plekanec - Chipchura - Higgins (great 2-way line)

Latendresse - Lapierre - Begin (the french connection could motivate them a bit)

Sub: Kostopoulos

Moving Koivu to the wing means losing him in face off, which is where Plekanec is still ass in and why we still consider keeping Smolinski. Yeah, no.
NEVER!!!!!!!!

I haven't been on this board since the Habs were eliminated.

Just curious, am I the only Habs fan who does not want Mats Sundin, the face of the Leafs for the past decade, on my team? Too. F***ing. Weird.

First off, that's assuming that Sundin signs with us, giving us another body in the circle. Second, just because a player plays the wing doesn't mean he can't take a face off in key situations.

It would piss off 90% of the Leafs fan base. Would be hilarious.

Go talk to a Leaf fan in their 40's/50's how they felt seeing Mahovolich being a Montreal Canadien, even though they dealt him to Detroit, who dealt him straight to Montreal. Tore them up inside.

Mats Sundin wearing our colours is the ultimate insult. Mats Sundin wearing our colours, hoisting up the Stanley Cup says, "The Toronto Maple Leafs need to send their greatest players to Montreal to succeed in the game of Hockey".

It's beautiful. It's powerful. It's the ultimate **** you.

I really wouldn't know who to give for Sundin. :S

But they probably are up in the poll.

if we have an agreement with mats and if he want to play here, we shouldn't give more than a grabovski or a 2nd ronder.

if he want to be a habs, we can also wait july 1st and it won't cost a thing !!
if the leafs gave the permission to the habs, it's because sundin accept to discuss with the habs, he still have is no trade clause...

+ mtl must be a the top of his list, consider :
-he played in QUE and TOR all is pro career, hockey markets !!
-he wants to stay in the east... and in canada mor than anything
-mtl has a big season coming up (100)
-with the addition of tanguay and maybe him, mtl has all the chance to repeat a 100pts season
-mtl can do damage in the playoffs
-why not mats ?

chipchura is absolutely not expendable.

we are weakest down the middle and after this draft - (no center picks)

along with maxwell he remains habs best center prospect.

i expect lapierre moves to the wing next year to make room

for chipchura

Want one big reason why Sundin will sign?

Because the Leafs will get something in return... and I think this will play a big role, especially for Sundin's CONSCIENCE in knowing that he did not completely STIFF the team and city he played for most of his career.

It's his only way out of Toronto that will leave him honorable.

Tanguay - Sundin - Kovalev : This just needs to be tried.
Koivu - Plekanec - A. Kost : Koivu can sub for face offs, gets less def. responsibilities.
Higgins - Chipchura - S. Kost : Great balanced checking line with offensive upside.
Begin - Lapierre - Latendresse

If Koivu just doesn't want to play the wing, then I'd go with what works :

A. Kost - Plek - Kovy
Tanguay - Sundin - Lats : I feel Lats could develop best on this line.
Higgins - Koivu - S. Kost
Begin - Chip - Lapierre
