Isles grab my sleeper Donovan, it figures.

I'm waiting to see where another player I like in Pat Mullane goes.

it's been pretty bad with trade details................Rangers don't have a 4th so this has to be something like a player and a pick.........i did'nt want Prucha moved for a 3rd so hopefully that is not it

But a draft pick next yr and Hollweg is fine..................also is this from Pitts or Phoe

I'd agree with you up until Donovan, he wasn't ranked at all..

Chicago drafts like this, they've done alright. Some have to pan out just by pure quantity.

Toronto grabbed Flaake with their third pick in a row in the 5th round.

Anyone else impressed by the POTENTIAL of the Isles draft?

Yes... except their first pick is supposed to be a "safe" one who's potential tops out at 2nd line. When you've done that, all the high risk/high reward guys in the later rounds are less compelling. (Of course, they wouldn't have had all those picks if they hadn't traded down twice, but still...)

dang anyone see Toronto's draft class. Nothing but big guys who average 6'2-6'3 and at around 200 lbs.

Now this is very interesting.

David Carle to the Lightning at pick 203. Doing it to make the kid's lifetime dream or actually taking a shot in the dark on finding a cure for his problem?

Looking over all the selections from different teams, I'm sort of surprised to find out that Ottawa didn't draft a goalie.

For all the bluster about what the Islanders did in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, I think this draft will always be viewed as a disappointment for them because they traded out of a great player at 5 (Shenn) for much less in the first round (Bailey) That's just not very smart asset management.

yea, probably, but they did get a nice start adding some much needed depth to their organization. They picked up some sure NHLers, which is what they need.

why did they draft Petrov, knowing he is staying in the RSL?

Based on what I heard said and written about Bailey, I am not sure that they have any "sure" NHL players in their entire draft.

I live on Long Island and took in the draft with a few friends that are huge Islander fans. After day one, I was busting their chops about trading the picks. All of them werecursing Snow, and the Islander org up and down for passing up on Filatov, and Boedker to take Bailey.

But, I think they all got the last laugh today. Tremendous day 2 for them in this draft. Went from what I thought was the biggest losers into huge winners. I guess time will tell here, but it looks to me like they did very well today.

"The experience at the Combine made me understand things a lot better," Petrov said through an interpreter. "I really want to play in the NHL and only in the NHL."

Not saying he'll definately be over here, but at that point, its worth a shot.
