Hey guys, Mats Froshaug is a fantastic pick and Gradin should be getting thanked over and over. He stood out at the World Championships for us (I'm a Norwegian Canadian), went from our third line at the beginning of the tournament to the first line within just a couple of games to due his ability to play against the NHL talent from other nations. He gave Team Canada headaches both times they played...He's very much a hybrid player he's strong enough to play a puck control game but has blazing speed, great hands and a really solid shot, better known for his passing however which is superb. I honestly believe you will be very happy with this pick as you've gotten a real under the radar player who should become a solid 2nd or elite 3rd liner in the NHL.

Frøshaug looks like a very good player. During this year's World Championships he played on the 4.line. During the tournament it was Norway's 2 and 4 line who were the better lines and could set the opponents under some pressure. Think he needs a year in AHL to adapt. Maybe two.
Seems like a solid pick all around and the type of things you should be trying in the 6th round. Reminds me of a Johan Franzen type pick, lets hope it turns out half that good. Still probably the best gamble left in the draft, and it's a good idea to gamble in the late rounds.

I said he moved up to the first line but I guess thats somewhat incorrect he didn't really move up his line was just given more ice time and went from being treated as a 4th to what I felt was being treated as a 1st. Agreeed that he will need some AHL time but I'm not sure how much, he's physically ready for the NHL I think he just has to adjust to the smaller ice but it didnt seem to hurt him in the WHC.

He got moved up and down during a couple of the games. He did good to. The coach tried to mix it up a little and give Fröshaug a shot at it.
I do remember his linemates changing at times but he seemed to be a constant in getting more ice time, I feel like I'm being overly picky here when I think we agree anyway

A player I know absolutely nothing about, so it's kinda hard to judge. Do like some of the reports on him.
Unlike the other 1990-born picks, he's an '88 so if he's a legitimate NHL prospect we should expect him to play at a fairly high level (SEL or AHL) next year and be a solid contributor.
I've read Norway actually has some decent depth at the men's level even if they don't have higher end skilled players.
Norway is getting there due to the tie with Canada in opening round and the face we got through to the qualification round of the tournament the team got a chance to play against a lot more of the top players in the world and looked pretty good. Norway is building some solid depth up, we were missing 4 of our best at the WHC but the young guys stepped up incredibly well and it's a great piece in the building hopefully this will lure more of the top young athletes in Norway to go for hockey and start to climb up to where the other Scandinavian nations are.
I think Froshaug can become at least a good 3rd liner for you guys in a few years... He is kind of a complete player.. No real weakness in his game.. I dont know if his offensive skills will translate to the NHL.. but I hope so..

I havent seen to much of Jannik Hansen to be honest, but from whatI have seen.. I think Hansen has a bit more offensive upside than Froshaug..
Anyway.. He does everything well... He is a good skater, good hockey sense, works hard, is very responsible defensively.. never takes a shift off.. His offensive skills are quite good.. decent vision.. He is also considered to be a good leader..
I'm not that good with comparisons, maybe a bit like a young Kris Draper, but a little slower and a bit more offensive upside..

I agree with everything you said except I think your underestimating Forshaug's offence a bit I could see him becoming a little better then Draper offensivly but your dead on about him playing very well in all facets of the game and not having a visable weakness.

I kinda agree on the offensive thing, but I just want him to show it at a higher level before im sold
But it would be great if his offence translated to the NHL...
